Lately I find my self smoking more and more burley based blends and Virginia’s I just don’t find English blends as tasty anymore. Then agian it just might be the weather. I don’t know. But it’s nice to dip into something else for a change. Maybe when winter rolls around agian I’ll try some Latakia agian. Is this anyone one else’s experience?

Initially when I took up the pipe, I was really into Latakia’s. Nice as a change, not a go-to though.

Latakia blends are my favorites. Like Virginias. Csn't stand Burley.

Burley is all year. Virginia is mostly summer time, and I smoke them less in cold weather. Lat blends are autumn through early spring, except for the occasional change-up. In the winter, I like smoking things that are like the beef stew of tobacco.
Edit: I'm beginning to get a good taste for dark fired, which I was "eh" on before.

Did English blends for over ten years before mostly losing my taste for them. Blends with more than a condiment amount of latakia now taste the same. I can't tell the difference between Penzance and Pirate Kake now. I mostly smoke Virginia/Orientals and aromatics now and now thirty years into smoking, I wonder why I liked English blends to begin with.

just the opposite (unless I maybee don't have much if any of a palate left). Confirmed lata-holic for past 15yrs. Don't care about the "fade", just enjoying same year round

I like latakia blends most of all. Can't taste Virginias. Like Burley and Orientals.

Latakia blends represent the smallest percentage of smokes for me but Virginia has been creeping that direction as well. Burley and Cigars are my staple. As mentioned, it's more likely I'll smoke Latakia in cooler weather.

Latt blends are an on and off type thing with me. Its burley and aros most of the time. I remember when I only reached for burley tobaccos when the fall rolled around, things change, maybe it's age...who knows?
I have a jar of Lancers slices that keeps giving me the high sign when I dig around in my collection of tobaccos; when I open that,I'll truly find out if I still enjoy the heavy stuff, or if it's the fine VAs and Orientals that call to me.

Latakia in blends diminishes with aging.

I like it all...tried a bit of Coniston Plug with Bob's chocolate flake both G&H blends mixed 50/50...came out pretty good. Plugs seem to be a little stronger and being a nic wimp it doesn't get the attention that some give it. Having a good cellar gives you the opportunity to smoke whatever you have a hankerin' for.

I'm still a Lat Head, but do enjoy Va blends... Mostly VaPer's.
For me the problem with many (most) of the straight Va's is that they bite me pretty hard. It's the Ph thing.

Some baccys bite me... others don't. nuthing to do with packing, moisture or cadence.....
