Working on the left front axle hub rebuild. All the parts are here EXCEPT the two hub nuts. I had forgotten how badly stripped they were when the system let go and did not order replacements. So, another week to get the parts. Need the special socket for tightening, so it is just as well to wait.
We all try so hard to ensure all the parts are ordered yet something always slips past, it seems.

I long ago decided that any repair I made that didn't take at least three trips to the parts store was bound to fail. Because the very rare ones that I managed less than that DID fail. That or something else busted right after...

It takes a special kind of stupidity while replacing the front brake rotor.

I am fortunate to have a mechanic that treats me as family...several times he has no-charge me for things that took practically no time and he said...next time. When I leave his shop...I have a feeling of peace because I know that he has checked my vehicle for any possible inconvenience that might happen. That peace of mind is what I need when going on a long trip.

I feel your pain.
My tractor blew a turbo, so my tractor and trailer are in Santa Fe.
I had to outfit a Ryder tractor and Trailer in PHX, and about 2 minutes before Ryder closed in PHX, I realized that the power cord from the tractor is incompatible with the trailer’s liftgate.
I chased down a plug that will have the cord modified, waiting to hear if the mechanic can get a workable solution.
If he cannot, I will be sitting at Ryder at 7AM on Monday instead of being in Yuma at 8 on my way to San Diego.
I have about 100 details to nail down on an exercise like this, but there always seems to be one that rears up.

Always three trips to the hardware store. First trip, get the wrong part. Second trip, right part, wrong size. Third trip, right part right size. At my age I truly should know better.
