I was gifted an ounce or so of Peter Stokabey's PS41 cube cut. I love the tin note, and when I got it to burn I liked the flavor, but I cant for the life of me keep it lit past two puffs.
I have only tried it once, in my little clay taster pipe. I tried gravity fill and a very light tamp, it promptly quit burning and semi-plugged the draft hole. I tried just gravity feed, light and go, it stayed lit for a couple of good pulls but when I tried to sip, as is recommended, it went out before I could.
Suggestions?

These hard pressed cubes retain lots of moisture and need to be well dried. My method, as for many others, is to microwave on a folded up paper towel for 15 seconds and then let rest a few minutes. Gravity pack only and don't tamp until it's smoking. Also … thanks for the reminder that I haven't smoked any of that in a long time!

I let it dry for a couple of days, gravity fill, tap the heel against my palm, and light.

I have never smoked cube cut. So unfortunately I am of no help. However I will be reading this thread often.

Thanks for the replies guys. So to recap: 1. Dry 2. Dry 3. Gravity fill 4. Light and smoke, Gently tamp or tap heel on palm after lit
I'll try that next time I get the chance. Going to probably have another go at the Salty Dog plug first.

Better in a pipe with a slightly restricted draw because of the cubes have a low resistance and they will clog too large of a draft hole.

One thing I found that helps prevent the tobacco from blocking the draft hole is to insert a pipe cleaner through the stem and into the bowl and then add the tobacco. I just pull the pipe cleaner out before lighting.

1.reach into jar pinch a good helping 2.dry it for a bit 3.while drying choose medium sized pipe 4.when dry enough gravity feed some tobacco into the bowl. 5.using a knuckle tap the side of the bowl to settle cubes. 6.add enough tobacco to fill bowl. 7.with thumb lightly press down tobacco 8. If there are cubes on the plate, towel take some of these cubes and rub then out. 9.take the fine rubbed out pieces ad put them on the top 10.lightly tamp 11.apply flame to ignite fine pieces 12.lightly tamp 13 reapply flame
Cube cut, since it is dense and holds moisture it seems to prefer a large bowl so it can expand. Smoking it in a small bowl can be done, the packing and drying are important
Drying if you live in the Deserts in New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona your drying time is shorter. Else where because of the high moisture content in the air it could take days to dry
