So I made this bent Dublin/cherrywood with a paneled shank. But, it was never going to sit with a stem on it. Which isn't a big deal, but it's a featureless feature. So, I made this one instead, with a flat bottom. Bent Dublin/poker. I decided to do a light/medium blast on the first one, to practice with the shank panels. I think it turned out pretty good. Trying to decide if I like more before or after?

It looks Very Good to my eye! IMO on a small pipe with lots going on you don’t want to go to far with the blast a chance wrecking the lines. Those panels look good you wouldn’t want to loose the edge with the blast.

Thanks guys! It's definitely fun figuring this out. I had a lot of help from Jason Thompson figuring out what to buy, and how to put parts together to make a really good setup. He and Walter Hettinger are in my Chesapeake Pipe Club meetings, and they're an invaluable resource, not to mention real stand up guys. I'm really blessed to know them. There's stuff you just can't find on the internet, or pipemakersforum, and you have to learn it word of mouth.

Well, there is that as well, but I honestly like seeing the pipe as it progresses, and in all sorts of stages along the journey

Jason's working on a pipe for me for Halloween. I hold the blast work on it in the same tier as my late buddy Bruce Weaver. Gorgeous ring definition!
