Spent a very quiet evening on my porch relaxing. Had a cup of coffee while smoking a Savinelli 320 packed with Old Dad and reading some of Longfellow's "Tales of a Wayside Inn". The coffee is gone, the sun has gone down and I have fired up more Old Dad in the JM Boswell and am now puffing on that while sitting in the dark listening to the coyotes singing off in the night distance somewhere.

A huge bowl of P.S. Luxury Navy Flake in a Ben Wade pickax ,a sweetheart day gift from 1982...my wife slipped into The Tinder Box ,and finished off my lay-away bill; I went in to pay on it and the salesman told me it was lost...I fired the whole shop up, only to get home and find the pipe giftwrapped on the kitchen table. Even the salespeople had a big laugh that day, and I learned not to hit the panic button so fast! THE GOOD OLE DAYS!!!

Saving Leningrad, also known as Battle of Leningrad is a 2019 war drama film written about the Road of Life, the tragedy of blood "barge 752", which took place on the night of September 16 to 17, 1941 at Lake Ladoga. I am smoking Danske Club Wild Berries in a Pipex.

I haven't figured out the preconditions, what to have eaten or what to drink just prior, but sometimes a big bowl of C&D's Billy Budd Blonde is the most delicious thing in the world, creating its own urgency and momentum. These special times, for me, rarely if ever occur with other blends.
I mean, BBB is normally great. But sometimes its amazing. I know it depends on mouth chemistry at the time. So I am trying to keep some notes. When it tastes fantastic what had I just ate or drank or smoked? So far I have this:
Billy Budd Blonde often acquires this compulsive deliciousness when it is the first smoke of the morning. I usually smoke after coffee and before breakfast. I wonder if its the coffee. Or maybe its just that I need a hit of nicotine? I don't usually brush my teeth till just after breakfast, so maybe its just the combination of remnants that make up morning mouth, mixed with coffee.
BBB often has this transcendent taste in the late evening, long after the last meal of the day. Is it something, or a combination of somethings, that I had for dinner? Or drank afterwards.
I find that BBB is often the best tasting tobacco following the smoking an aromatic tobacco. So for example I really like CULT Abacus, but I am obsessed with the flavor of Billy Budd Blonde that can occur as a second pipe, after the Abacus.
So I don't know. I will keep you posted.
I wish you all that super smoke experience, where the flavor is so amazingly good your wandering mind is corralled into paying attention to it, and you are distracted from your TV or cell phone or book or conversation, to just rest in the experience of it and hope it lasts forever.

Blackberry brandy in a stained CG cob. Finding that I enjoy my cobs...perhaps even better than my briars....and my poor meers feel like they are left out of the fun.

It's Hobbit Day!
On Bing: "Today is Hobbit Day, marking the anniversary of the 'Long-Expected Party,' which sets in motion the 'Lord of the Rings' book series. September 22 is the birthday of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, the protagonists of 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' respectively."
So I had Hobbit's Weed in an old rusticated Jobey E55.

Not sleeping so may as well light a pipe. It's about 67F and a clear, starry night. The Milky Way is in full view and even Pleiades is shining bright. I think I'll just load up some D&R Two Timer in an MM Cob and watch the galaxy tumble.
