Looks like dry wind shear may push it more east when it makes the turn more easterly , at least that’s weatherman talk. Lots of roof damage here, when I went to a metal roof over my asphalt roof I choose a thicker tin, twice the thickness they sell. No damage on mine. Still have a small part of yard to clean, under my 200 yr old live oak, it took a beating but I think it helped shelter my house from southerly winds. Folks around here getting a double whammy, they’ve raised as I have their deductible to be able to afford their premiums, my deduct is 5000$, talked to a man picking at my pile of vinyl at the road for trash pickup, he asked if he could have a few pieces, said the same thing about deductible. Insurance ain’t your friend!

Best of luck to all our Gulf friends. Please stay safe. No heroics until after the wind stops blowing.

Weather forecaster is the only job you can have where you get paid even if you are wrong 95% of the time. Hurricane Zeta was supposed to be a weak Category 1 or strong tropical storm when it made landfall. It made landfall as a Category 2.
Here in my little corner of SE Louisiana (30 miles northeast of New Orleans) we are now seeing a steady rain and occasionally high gusts of wind.

Just saying...... Good luck to you. Even with all your Coastie training and experience. Stay safe and well.

Power came back on in my neighborhood about 20 minutes ago. Cell service is still spotty but at least I can shut down the generator.

Spoke to my nephews in Gretna and Mandeville and they are both still without power but they have commercial generators. Billy said that his company had to send all of his pump inventory to New Orleans because their sewer lift pumps run on electricity. His are diesel. Kenny said that he went out in the storm to get a piece of tin that blew off the roof of his shed. He said while he was bringing it back he was saying "Stupid Coonass, stoooopid Coonass". He quit listening to his self years ago but he said he couldn't hear himself over the wind noise. Honestly. 😁😉🤠
