My favorite calabash didn't come with a case, and I was wondering if it's possible to have one made for it? Does anyone still do that kind of thing?

I'm still using the original fitted cardboard box it came in when I got it 40 years ago...so I'm not any help.

I've never heard of anyone making cases specifically for calabash pipes, but I'm sure there are talented people out there who have the skills to knock one up for you. In essence, it's just a padded box.

yo ok - Max Capp, www.maxcappspipes.com/home.html, is a talented maker who was a Morley's member when he lived in Philly. He's moved to the Sierras and has really channeled the Dunhill 120 shape, which he makes special fitted cases for. He might be your ticket for a bespoke case for your Calabash. hp les

lestrout's suggestion is probably your best bet. Your options are custom boxes or a foam block like they use for meerschaums coming out of Turkey by many meerschaum carvers. You'd just have to figure out how they press the shape into the foam.

How about posting an image or two of your pipe...along with dimensions? Could be that someone here has a vintage old meer case which could work. I've got a couple...and if something I have fits...it's YOURS for the price of CONUS shipping.

Some years back, Simon...(Condorlover1) smoked exclusively antique meerschaum pipes and searched high and low for a domestic source to make pipe cases for his ones that had degraded. He found a guy in Turkey that offered to make cases, but I think that the possibility of him never getting his pipes back, he passed on it. Good luck! I have his mailing address filed away, and keep meaning to call or write him.
