My regular dentist retired, so I met my new one this morning. He poked around in there a while and then said, "You smoke a pipe." I don't know how he could tell, but I was impressed.

Nice to have a dentist with some knowledge. I had to educate mine that you don’t inhale a pipe.

I would guess that the dentist is not a young man? Just a guess on my part, but the concentrated drawing of smoke from a pipe stem as opposed to cigars or cigarettes clued him in. Do you always smoke with your pipe in the same place? I have been using an oral tobacco, Chimo more than a pipe as of late, and it has done my gums no favor based on the comments while sitting in the dentist's chair. I am currently thinking of re-evaluating my choices. Mexican Campesinos use this form of tobacco working in the field, and I am pretty sure that oral considerations are far from their radar as an issue. |

The backs of my teeth (what few I have left) are dark with nicotine stain...stuff doesn't come off unless the dentist buffs it off.
