I was loading the truck for fire evacuation last month. The wife had all the important papers out if the safe clothes and other items. I filled my truck with guns. We were adding the last few items and she looked on the book shelf and got a box and started loading my pipe racks into it. Thought someone here mite enjoy this. I guess my wife does love me after all. We did not have to leave the house but watched the fire all night till the bombers showed up in the morning

Man I hope you don’t have too, a Hurricane you usually can patch and survive, but fire, you have my best wishes in surviving this.

Few years back a bad fast-moving range fire was 200Y from my place when the wind suddenly changed 90°. I know the feeling.

That must have been scary. And I'm sure pipes were the least of your concerns.
Must be tough to watch too.

If the firefighters don't get it, the rain will the next day.

It was when Murphy kicked over his Still in a fit of rage. The Still House burned down and the fire spread to the gorse and fen which had dried in the summer heat. Soon, it spread to the peat pile and once engulfed the embers flew onto Old Widow McGivney's thatch roof and that went up in a roar. Meanwhile, the Fire Brigade, under the command of Captain Victor McLaglen rolled on to the scene but their hoses were still in the shed and they could do nothing more than pee on the flames which they were willing to do as they are all brave men and the old widow had a bottle of Bushmills which she passed among them. It was a sad sight and many remember the black day.

Good wife to consider your needs. Prayers that you aren't affected by any future flames. This is a yearly event and unfortunately may be a permanent problem as the weather gets warmer and dryer.

Might want to build you a pipe rack in a big Pelican case so you can just slam the lid and run! Or a fireproof gun safe.

Longer if you set it in concrete.

If the quick search I just did is accurate that would indeed do it, as long as the fire moved on before too awful long.

Winchester 1892 made in 1902. Barrel and chamber has been drilled and relined into 218bee just got to have butt stock and forearm built.

Well, maybe before Captain McLaglen's boys peed on it. That said, never say never. Wildfires in the Olympic mountains here used to be unheard of, especially the in the west slope valleys which are true rainforests (150+ inches of rain a year). But it's happened a few times now recently.

But it's happened a few times now recently. I suppose it could happen, but there isn't the kindling here for it to spread much. There was a gorse fire on a mountain (hill) close to us called Knocklayd. My wife was wondering if we would be affected. I told her that there are 10 miles of grass fields between that hill and us - there's no way it would get that far. Even though we have one or two dry days, they aren't enough that the ground is THAT dry. But, like you say...never say never.
