Who is going to do the SS this year? We should start earlier than last year as I recall the site getting a late start or something. I have an idea I want to run by you all. When all of the players are set for this years Secret Santa, I want to do a random drawing and send a package to the "chosen one" or the person who the computer spits out of the list. I will put all the names in a team generator thing like this: www.jamesbaum.co.uk/team-generator/and the person that gets paired with me gets a bonus xmas package. I will not be participating in the SS other than this bonus round. Thoughts |

Did we do Secret Santa last year? I don't recall that, but my memory is not perfect. We've done BOM, though not with much success.

We did not do one last year. I thought about it in November?
and contacted the person who had done it the year before.
But he just did not have time and didn’t think anybody was really interested.
Some of you may recall. That was a period of time things were kind of rough around here. We lost a few members at that time. October November.
Several people had mentioned they had already been involved in secret Santa’s and other forms. So the Briarpatch kind of went by the wayside.
But I’d be all in favor of getting involved. And I do like your idea.
I know in the past, people try to make sure you get paired up with like-minded people.
You don’t want to be sending a bunch of Latakia to somebody who only smokes Virginia’s etc.

It's worth a shot but I remember that in 2018 it was decided that international members wouldn't participate given the difficulty of assuring delivery. Would this apply again this year?

I say drop SS. Include everyone or exclude everyone. Logic dictates action.

We got too late a start last year and didn't do it, I ran it the year before and peteguy the year before that. If we do it again this year, and why wouldn't we, it's completely voluntary, just know that it takes a lot of time to run, probably more than you'd think. Thanks peteguy for bringing it up in time  |

I think there should be SS for Canada only added to the list. That may be a good idea also. The Canadians. And the Europeans. And those in Mexico and south. And The rest of the world. See if you have enough interest in your respective areas. I do not know the regulations regarding shipping tobacco. But maybe the Canadians have no problem sending to the Europeans or to the people in Mexico and vice versa. Maybe it’s only A problem in and out of the US to these other countries? |

Running Secret Santa takes quite a time commitment, and also the willingness to chase people down to ensure they follow through. I know I don't have the time to do it, but I'm happy to help get a new thread started with the rules.
Also worth keeping in mind that there are even greater unknowns with all the shipping delays from Covid. That adds a new dynamic.

This may help. If someone has the time to do this. I am worried, that if I commit, I won’t be able to follow through. Due to an erratic work schedule. it looks to be free and people can talk to each other anonymously!  |
