When I built my cellar in 2012-2013 I used PC more than SP in the beginning. When I was around 2/3rd's done I believe it was at that time where PC was bought out by Cigars International. They completely lost my order history which really sucked. Then their prices went up and it was easy to justify using SP. I haven't bought much tobacco anymore from PC. All I get now from them are pipe cleaners and IM Corona Pipemasters. It is a shame PC was given the worst tobacco buyer I have ever seen. They are clueless to what people want.

Most of my online orders of pipe tobacco over the years have been through P&C and Smokingpipes, with I think one or two each from 4Noggins and Cup O' Joe's. I've been lucky, I guess--no problems with any of them so far. I do appreciate all the suggestions made here, though, and will explore some of them. I'm also lucky to have a well-stocked tobacconist fairly near my work, so I sometimes pick up a tin or two from there as well, along with my pipe cleaners, lighter fluid and flints, and Czech tools.
For pipes (nearly always estate pipes, and not many in the last decade or so), I usually turn first to Marty Pulvers, and sometimes to Blue Room Briars.

Wilke's. From experience, John Brandt will personally answer emails and take calls plus offer tips on what to buy.

I am not buying much anymore as I am pretty well done with cellaring. Probably 85% came from P&C, 10% Smokingpipes.
Like Ron, I received 1 package that had a dented tin, and no bad customer service issues with P&C. All my orders were pretty much free shipping.
Having said that, McRanies told me to send a check when I received their product and invoice.
Tobaccopipes and the Pipenook run a great business.
I wrote off the previous owner of a certain Vermont address when he went on what appeared to be an alcohol fired political tirade on social media.

When I buy I use the best price and discount formula for my purchases through P&C, Smokingpipes, Tobaccopipes etc. to name a few. Cigarbid has also been a source, though lately the pipe tobacco has been fetching much higher bids. Last order, December 2021, ( The first time I bought tobacco in a long while,) was from cbid, where I was able to acquire 2x Missouri Meerschaum 150 @4.00 per tin and 2x John Cotton's Double Pressed Latakia @5.00 per tin, Sir Walter Raleigh (14 ounces) for 12.00 and 2x Mississippi River Anniversary (4 ounces) for 11.00 per tin.
I offset the shipping costs by winning a few cigars in the process. By setting my bottom price, a few tins can slip through the cracks, resulting in better deals even with the increased bidding activity.
Best buys that still sell(bid) for great prices on a regular basis include Mississippi River and Plumb Pudding ... Four ounce anniversary blends bid for around 11-16 dollars and eight ounces from 23-30 ... per tin ....Sometimes they sell for more, but you can find them in those price ranges.
Cbid's general buying rules are be patient and watch out for the shipping (One should set up your account for weekly shipping, which can be extended. The way to extend shipping beyond a week is found in a few of my earlier posts.).

I order all my tobacco from Milan Tobacco in Virginia. They have a house blend of English style that has become my favorite smoke. They are very nice folks to deal with, have reasonable prices and ship very quickly. Having said that, I really miss the local brick and mortar stores that used to be around. 15 or twenty years ago there were three in my area. Now there is only one and it is mostly just cigars now. (and no English blends)

I remember that incident of the Vermont vendor; I quit using them for a while until the outfit was sold to someone else. I think they were the only place I could find John Patton tobacco blends.

Although I haven't purchased pipe tobacco for a year now (cellar is full), I shopped at Pipesandcigars.com the majority of the time. Mainly because they had lots of sales and special offers that I couldn't resist. But in latter years, I used Smokingpipes more and more. I also bought lots of stuff at TobaccoPipes.com - they are a great place to shop! They have a great selection and competitive prices. Have also used Mars Cigar, Cup o'Joes, WV Smokeshop, and Iwan Ries a significant amount.

Chuck's great at pipe shows (Iwan Ries) He(or his associates, he's 84 going on 85 now) will set up nearby folks selling high priced McClelland tins and just purposely undersell them by like $10 per tin just because he hates the scalpers. Wish I could make it that way sometime soon but the shop had strange hours last I checked due to restrictions. It's a great shop in person. Man, I'm itching to go on a B&M tour really soon. The website is definitely antiquated for most B&Ms.

Bought a Savinelli Autograph from them, and a bit of some of their 3-Star blends, I think.

I bought a few things from Iwan Ries in the past. What keeps me from going back are their high shipping costs.

I bought a few things from Iwan Ries in the past. What keeps me from going back are their high shipping costs. Not only that, and that their website is ancient, but their inventory management is poor. Website shows something in stock and when I order I get a call from them telling me it's not in stock. It was an error. Really? Inventory management systems have come a long way and most of them keep very accurate counts these days. If they don't, then their software goes on the dustheap of time. Besides the fact that all their new arrivals are out of stock. I don't mean a few items, but everything on the page. And I know some of those items have been sitting on that page for two years or more. All this tells me is that their website is all manually updated by someone. And that fellow is not staying current. Like some of you, I've kind of given up on Iwan Reis. I know they have a gorgeous shop, and if I'm ever in Chicago I'll certainly go by there, but as for using them as an online source - no.

I just placed my first order with them, hopefully it arrives with the correct stuff as I was surprised they had something in stock. Also, shipping is free if you spend $125.

It all depends on what you want to spend. I would look at the lower line of Winslow pipes at SP. If you can afford it they also have a group of hand made pipes that are graded E-A. I have at one time owned all of them except for the A. They all smoke the same you are just paying for grain
