Popped into my head that maybe the world would be a more peaceful place if world leaders smoked pipes. But then I remembered that FDR smoked cigarettes, Churchill smoked cigars, and Stalin smoked... pipes. OK. Back to the drawing board.

Actually, a few moments of rational thought would have disabusing me of that foolish notion. Tobacco came to Europe through Spain and then spread quickly throughout the continent. The only access Europeans had to it was through pipes. And arguably the period from the last half of the 16th Century and throughout the 17th was perhaps the bloodiest in all European history. Good try but no see-gar. (See what I did there?)

Found myself there thinking the same thing.
In an ideal world all of them guys would gravitate towards a peaceful existence while smoking a pipe. But sadly human nature is human nature, and debased individuals choose to control others.
Samuel Clements, JR Tolkien, etc... are heroes.
Stalinist types are vile scumbags.

Ever sit in a room full of pipe smokers, anything but peaceful. Arguments break out over blends, packing, which pipe is best, etc. The only peace a pipe smoker experiences is when they're off to themselves smoking a pipe.

Wilke #515 is the ONLY tobacco for a civilized gentleman!! 😜 ðŸ¤

Gentlemen, please! Have your seconds arrange the time and place... In the spirit of working together across the international line, I'm willing to negotiate and settle on Wilke's 184. It's great stuff, sort of like a dry vermouth. Ronv69 was the one that got me on Wilke actually.

You really can't top Wilke. 😉 John Brandt, Ernie Q, and the late Craig Tarler are my all time favorite blenders. Craig used to personalize blends for me and once sent me a pound brick of Black Frigate without latakia. It was amazing!

All pipe tobaccos are topped with something, unless you grow your own. Wilke makes some fine English blends and other non-aros. But nobody can do aros like Wilke.
