So I've had this pipe for a long time and it is one of my favorites. I've tried doing research on it. Trying to find info on the brand, maker, year it was made etc. But despite my efforts I've learned nothing lol. Hopefully one of you kind folks on here can help me? Thank you Lane pipe imgur.com/a/nMYI2pN.jpeg

Looks to be a Savinelli pipe made for the Tobacco Lane tobacconist in Fort Worth Texas.

Are there any other stamping on it? I have a pipe with similar stamping but mine was for Bayou Tobacco (in Baton Rouge) and it also had the Savinelli logo stamped on the briar.
My understanding is that Savinelli used to sell lower end pipes to pipe shops with the shop name on the briar.

Great thank you. Everything I looked up kept coming back as the tobacconist in Texas as you've said. Which didn't help me as much as I would of hoped. Now with your help I have a new angle to look at
But just out of curiosity, what about it makes it a savinelli? Aside from being stamped "Italy" I would of never guessed. But then again I'm also not great at figuring out who makes what without a name stamped on. Just for future reference and to maybe help with research and dating. Again thank you.

Which is what has made it difficult for me to pin down any information on it. I love the pipe. It's probably the best smoker of the six I have. But I'm a curious fella and like to know what something is and how old etc.

It's looks really don't say Savinelli to me, but it is possible. There are a bunch of Italian makers of what we call basket pipes, which is not a derogatory term. It's a great looking pipe and probably a great smoker.

There are a lot.... and I mean a lot of British pipes made by the premiere brands that found their way onto the seconds market, as a sub brand or stamped for a brick and mortar store.
Some of my best smoking pipes are factory seconds or brick and mortar house pipes. It really makes sense for the manufacturer and the tobacconist, and offers a great value for the consumer.

(The same can be said about Italian pipe makers, it is just that most of mine are British)
