Bread Machine bake, wife didn’t like this machine, her old one had died, pepped her up to trying it out, told her if it don’t come out Buddy will eat the mistakes. No mistakes any more, she’s got it down. Wish I could bottle that smell!

No need to bottle it...just keep making loaves!
About 15 months ago, I got into making a sourdough starter, and we no longer "buy" bread. I make it every week or so, and I've got the process down really well. Starter is very healthy, been making bread, pancakes, cinnamon rolls...I'm getting hungry just saying it.

Starter is hard to maintain unless one spends much time in the kitchen. I have lost many over the decades. Thus, I mix dry yeast for every batch of bread or go with a "Quick bread".
Bread can also be baked in a crockpot if extremely patient.

Yes sir... nothing better then the smell of fresh baked bread in the morning! I’m surprised there isn’t a tobacco blend, an aromatic perhaps, or is there?

You got that right Brad...the wife and i used to set up the bread maker before bed, and at 3am or so the bread would be ready ,and the aroma would drag us out of bed...nothing beats good hot bread with real butter at 4am with fresh coffee. Then back to bed ,and sleep like a baby...all the while the house smells like a bakery from Heaven !!!

They say to have freshly baked bread (or bread baking) when you're showing it round your house when you're settling it. Apparently it helps seal the deal.

I have heard the same thing on this side of the pond. That sounds like a universal truth to me.
My grandma used to bake every week it seems. Her bread was perfection, and with butter I was in heaven.

I bought myself a dutch oven at the beginning of the Covid situation, with the intention of starting to bake bread regularly. Baked one loaf of Italian bread, and the weather warmed up. So that want on hold for the summer. With the weather cooling off again, I'll get back to it.

Pull out my bread machine which I haven't used in years and now I can't find the bread machine mixes in the grocery stores anymore. When I ask the clerks and manager's of the stores about the bread machine mixes they seemed to have never heard of such stuff!! Amazon still sells such mixes but at a price of around $12 for a single box of mix including shipping charges. Does your wife use her own bread machine recipe from scratch ingredients?

Got myself a kenwood kmix during the week in Black Friday sales. I make my own pizza dough usually once a week so it was worth it, esp with £300 off.
Making bread this morning. It's in its first proof right now.

Swamp guy all she uses is Gold Meadal flour, she buys both, the regular and the bread flower, little packs of yeast, butter pinch of salt and sugar, go on the internet or goggle your bread machine, they have bread recipes.

Yes, She should look specifically for her bread maker or the dimensions of the cooking pot, but I am sure people post recipes. $12 is a ripoff, you can get better gourmet bread from an expensive bakery for that price.

I guess since using such simple ingredients that the market for the preformulated bread machine mixes has basically disappeared. Didn't realize there was a separate "bread" flour. I'll give such recipes a try. Even if I don't get it right on the first try, it's bound to work out better than the approx. $12/box or bag of preformulated mix for one loaf of bread via the Amazon market.

Bread comes out best with high protein bread flour. Milled Red Winter Wheat is the best. Makes great gluten when kneaded. Gluten is what makes bread dough stretchy, allowing for rise. Good yeast is the driver. These no-need-for- kneading recipes really throw me. I guess they work in the bread machines. I use a regular oven and a bread pan. Bread is easy to make but takes a little work in the kneading phase.

Bread baking for a long time. It is a worthwhile hobby. Machines are fine. I knock nothing.

Bread can also be baked in a crockpot if extremely patient. I tried making bread in a crockpot a couple of times. It took 2 hours, then needed browned in the oven. Then 1 day I mixed up the "crockpot bread" recipe and put it in the oven instead. Cooked in about 45 mins. Came out great. Making it in the crockpot was kind of a novelty - that wore off real fast.
