Anyone have any experience with WDC Wellington pipes? I have one that I've had for sometime. Though I like the looks of it (reminesant of a Peterson to me) , I'm not sure if I'm a fan. I don't know if it's the P-lip or what but out of the ones in my rotation I'm just not sure if it's the pipe for me. It's not even that it smokes bad. There's just something that I can't put my finger on. I've truthfully considered trading or selling it. Anyone else run into this with one of your pipes or an I just being stupid?

They are excellent pipes. They are actually a little better than the Peterson System Standard, in my opinion. I have a couple, and my favorite is the Jumbo. A Peterson in that size would cost $400.

My favorite pipe (The old Chesterfield) was made by Wellington. They are great pipes but some folks don't like the bit.

I personally like the Peterson P-lip, but I had one Wellington, and I too ended up moving it out and trading or selling it. You're not odd...many pipers like what they like for various reasons beyond smoking quality.

Maybe try changing the stem if you can. Might make the world of difference to you. I'm not a fan of the p-lip and I rarely smoke that pipe as a result. I need to switch up the stem for a normal one at some point.

I dropped the Chesterfield back in '92 and the stem shattered but I have a replacement that I like better. The original stem was brittle -- supposedly sunlight can do that to an old pipe stem -- and the new(er) vulcanite replacement is much more comfortable when clenched in the jaw.
