Has anyone tried both the Charatan and Peterson Dunhill blends? Is one better than the other?
What are your thoughts? I've a tin of the Charatan EMP but I've not opened it yet. Prob won't for a while.

Prob won't for a while. The only difference between the Peterson and Dunhill blends is the label if that helps. Still made in the same facility as before the change.

The Charatan match mixtures popped up soon after BAT/Dunhill announced they were leaving the pipe tobacco/cigar market. I don't know who made them K&K, Planta or ?? but I thought they got a Cease and Desist pretty quick for trademark infringement. I don't think they ever made it over here in the states. I'd get a tin of the STG version of the Dunhill/Peterson EMP and do a side by side.

They're still for sale over here but that might be only because there's stock to sell. They may indeed have stopped production. I suppose what I need to do is get myself a tin from both and see for myself...

As far as the previous STG version vs. Peterson... I just started a Peterson tin back to back with an STG tin I finished recently, and found no difference in flavor, burn, etc. To my buds, they are the same thing.Pure deliciousness!!

Considering that so many blends that are reintroduced that are a shadow of the former, that is great news! Ask anyone that smoked the old 3 nuns compared to the current version.

The older version is usually the better one, it's the control in our experiment/mind!
