I know I've posted this topic a couple of times in the past, over the years. So, it probably comes as no surprise that it's happened again. The Mancave has been Invaded! Yes, Blondie has dared to invade the Mancave and start her pre-staging for the day after Thanksgiving. Oh well, gonna have to deal with it for a few more days. Get the decorations all up for Christmas and then I'll put those damned boxes back in the attic. ;-)

At least you’ve got a man cave. I’m still relegated to the patio.

Well I haven't a classy mancave, boxes of decorations, or much of a patio, but the entire upstairs is pretty much a smoking lounge where much time is spent when home. Seeing your photo makes me think I could stand to zhush up the place.

Doesn't she have a spare room she can use? That's just not right.

Remodeled the entire house, then built a she shed for her in the backyard. Large screen tv, heat, insulation/drywall/paint, real tile floor, and even a chandelier. Ended up having to work from home, and she says I need to get a trailer or go somewhere else because she can't do stuff with me here.
I think that's my permission to build my own bat....er....man cave.

I'll never understand it, but everything in my house has to change at Christmas. Dishes, glasses, cups and mugs aren't enough, my wall unit of pipes has to go away to make room for a display of Nutcrackers and such...all end tables and shelves must be covered in red and green...pictures and wall-hangings all change to a Christmas theme. Each year, when she's just about ready to fall into a coma from the fuss and muss, the big day comes ,and the work starts all over again, only to get back where it all started!!!

We never had the time or money to do a house makeover at Christmas, except for a few years in the 90s when we had a big home in an upscale neighborhood where it was expected. We were also having church groups over a lot during the season. Last year we didn't put up a tree until the day before Christmas. We left all of the outdoor decorations at the old house. We brought only our artificial tree and the heirloom decorations to the new house. We probably won't be able to put up the tree this year as we are using the living room for storage while we are organizing the rest of the house. My mom's setting up for Christmas involved a ceramic tree that my sister gave her and a few very old decorations.

Christmas is a big deal for me, always has been. It's generally a whole house makeover here as well. Even the bathroom gets flipped to a Christmas theme. I do it for no other reason than it brings me joy, and in normal years, our friends as well.

I am just a lazy bum when it comes to Christmas, my garage is packed with stuff making getting to the Christmas stuff, ladder Jenga! for me. In the coming year, I am going to be selling a lot of stuff that I have accumulated over the years that are to valuable to have a yard sale with, but properly targeted through Ebay or Offer up on large items I should be able to make a decent dollar on most of it. But then, I will lose my excuse to the wife...

I have a Christmas dish towel hanging in the kitchen we go all out. As much as Dean likes to think that is his room it is not. What's yours is hers and what hers is hers.

My sanctum is a an old workshop about 75 yards from the house. It kind of dark, kind of dirty and smells strong of woodsmoke, pipe smoke, cigars and tools. My wife visited one time...for about 2 minutes. She never came back down.
Dont get me wrong. I adore Shweetie, and she's welcome to come sit with me anytime. But I dont have to worry about her ever moving in and taking over 😄

My problem is that I am the one who has to get the Christmas boxes down from the attic, stand there while she talks about every item and decides where it goes...and then expects me to actually set everything out, hang up lights, etc....and then take all down again in January. It's pretty, but it's not fun.

Im fortunate. Shweetie is very understanding about my lack of enthusiasm for Christmas, and keeps things reasonable. She does all the decorating herself, and doesnt get crazy about it. I love her, and it brings her joy, so we've worked out our own compromise that suits us well.
As a Christian, and a poor sort of simple, church pastor, its kind of an odd situation to be in. I love the Bible Christmas story and that part of it, of course, but we havent had a christmas tree in over 20 years.

Especially without little ones underfoot. It's not like it's a Bible holiday after all. All of the pagans had winter festivals and the church just adopted them. Still, I miss the old traditions, but on Christmas eve we are happy to have the three of us in sight and safe. We expect to be at the Christmas Eve service this year. We used to go to the midnight service at First Methodist in Houston. A huge church with a great pipe organ and choir. At the end of the service, the preacher would light his candle from the alter, and then light one member of the congregation. It was amazing to watch the light spread until 2500 candles were burning and everyone was singing Oh Holy Night.

Thanks again for sharing Dewayne and Ron.

The sooner you realize she who must be obeyed is right, the better for you. Happy wife, happy life. And quite often, divorce. Women tend to be put off by a subservient spouse and will sometimes seek equality elsewhere. Cow towing can be a short road to alimony.

Although I feign offense at one corner of the cave being invaded, the joy that Blondie and the kids derive from decorating the place for Christmas, makes it all worth it. The baby, Jenni, got home yesterday afternoon. So far she and Blondie have decorated all 4 bedrooms and all 3 bathrooms, not to mention areas here and there throughout the house. Tomorrow morning Jenni and I will go find a Christmas Tree, our Dad & Lass tradition for over 15 years now. Once it's up, the rest of the house will get decked out.
