I love egg nog. Bought some today which I'm going to turn into ice cream. And nearer to Christmas I'm going to try making an Egg Nog fudge for the first time.

Brought home a cheap store made peach pie. How bad could it be? Better than no pie at all!!

There is a big fudge shop in Jefferson that I need to check out. I love their Maple Pecan fudge.

I bake both so often that it really doesn't matter. If it's someone else's. Well then it depends what it is and who made it. Who wants ice cream 🍦?!

If cobbler can be considered a very thick pie, I'm going to have to go with thick pie

Never was a fan of cake, especially with the overdone sickly frosting. Pie is good though, sometimes great. Tart ones preferred, key lime, strawberry/rhubarb... does Italian fruit tart count as pie?

Baked a Patti Labelle Sweet Potato pie yesterday. It's half gone. Wife made a cherry strudel today. It's half gone too. Strudel is a good compromise between pie and cake. 😉🤠

If you say you actually prefer cake over pie, you probably request a table instead of a booth and I don't want to know you.

I find it to be absolutely disgusting that so many things have been invented, that will make me gain weight. Gluttony is still one of the Cardinal Sins. So, my doctor said:...."Lower that A1C, and the triglycerides....lose a few tons"! Get out of the office, and come back in 3 months for more bloodwork".
So back in September I started on the 16-8 Intermittent Fast diet. No problems, but I'm still as fat as when I started. Too many pasta carbs. I'm Italian. Food tastes good. I can't eat like a rabbit and I hate food that tastes like cardboard, and with names I can't pronounce.
Now, this thread about pies and cakes. I just can't get a damn break. The story of my life.
I'm due for my next doctor appointment. When he gets a load of me...he's gonna be really get pissed when I get on the scale! I'll hand him a printed copy of this thread.

Not trying to sound like a smart a$$ or anything but I’m hoping you’re doing this because you want too! Life is short, make the best of it and live it to the fullest! I’ve known people who were die hard health nuts, ate rabbit food, ran every day etc and ended up dying of a heart attack jogging. At the same time, I know people who are overweight, no diet or exercise and lived to their mid-late 80s. It’s genetics, end of story.

The only place I prefer cake over pie is in the bowl of my pipe. Otherwise... give me pie. Pecan is my favorite.

When I think about cake, I think about my sister's Texas State Fair Blue Ribbon winning cakes. Some cake is better than pie, but usually not.

Pie! Specifically, Pecan Pie. Made with Elliot pecans from Lower Alabama. AND - you have to say it right: "pee can"

Pie.
When I first started shopping at City Market (Kroeger) in Alamosa, CO around 1999, they had "The Cream Pie of the Month CLub". Not just a pie, a CREAM pie was featured every month. I tended to avoid that but it sure brought a smile.

Except for the word "Italian", your post might well be mine...everything was going my way till this Covid-19 crap started...my gym was a stone-throw away from my house, and I was there 5 times a week; it closed in May ,never to reopen, and the next closest offers far less...A1C is up , weight is up, and my Doctor's blood presser is up!

In the fight against covid, there are far too many restrictions that are resulting in unintended consequences (or intended, at this point I cannot tell).
