Hey guys.
I purchased some vintage Velvet from the late 70’s early 80’s and have enjoyed it. I shared a tin with a friend recently and was asked what is like it in the market today? I don’t know much about pipe tobacco for sure so curious to see if any of the long time pipers could weigh in on this. I know the new blend is very different from the old and I like them both but if anyone has any experience with this blend from the older days, I’d appreciate some input.
Thanks!

I had smoked it in the '70's but not since then. I guess you're the only one I know who does smoke it. The fact that it is still available tells us that there are other who enjoy it.

I smoked it briefly in the late 80's. About 1 pouch as I recall. All I remember was a really bad tongue bite, a nic hit, and no desire to buy a second pouch.

Yeah, I enjoy it. It’s not a premium smoke but I be liked it for a while. Never got tongue bite from it. I remember hanging out in Brooklyn with a friend of mine and we came across this older gent who was walking his dog and smoking a pipe. My friend asked him what he likes to smoke and he said “Velvet but I can’t get it around here anymore” so we gave him a few websites to look at to get some. I was intrigued ever since and bought a good amount of it after trying my first pouch.
