Howdy Patchers... can anyone ID this pipe? . Purchased at "Bennington Tobacconist" - a Florida mom and pop shop - back in the 80's (80ish?). . Marks are "Bennington Belfast on one side, and made in the Republic of Ireland 221 on the other side" . This is something a buddy dug up from his childhood. Ya'll may appreciate - I'm on another web forum, Florida hunting/fishing stuff, and I've been chipping away at everyone, telling them how awesome pipe smoking is... starting to gain traction and some of them are getting interested lol... so that is where this pipe picBennington Belfast on one side and made in the Republic of Ireland 221 on the other side .

Private label pipes for the Bennington store. Couldn't get any info on who makes them, but you might just call the store and ask. Looks like a beautiful store, though. From an article on them in Pipes Magazine: Pipe sales were up 17% last year, and they are already up another 17% in the first 6-months of this year. Pipes priced at $100 and under are the biggest sellers. The private-label Bennington branded pipes that sell in the $30 – $60 range represent a huge volume. Although it’s not easy being a brick & mortar retail tobacconist these days, Bennington’s is coming up on their 50th anniversary, and it seems like they will be here for decades to come.

Definitely a Pete, between the 221 shape stamping and 'made in rebublic of ireland'. It seems to be the Bennington shop stamp which included 'Belfast', so who knows about that except them. Lots of known pipe makers made pipes for shops, leaving their own branding off of it; I've had many.

BOOM. Well done. And I always love looking at vintage pipe shop images like those in that wiki article.
