Although a few went through my "pipe shop" for restauration I never considered the famous "Hungarian" or "Oom Paul" shape to be a pipe shape for me. In fact they looked quite like a "codgers pipe" to me. Recently I felt the urge to try one anyhow (do I become an old codger?) but most of them are not properly bent. My ideal would be a perpendicular stem that goes parallel to the bowl. A friend has the Dunhill which would fit the bill but they are pricey and rarely show up. This Savinelli NonPareil should fit the bill though. It was in great condition and just needed some polishing.

Very nice looking pipe, Frank. I am stunned that Photobucket performed better than Imgur.

Thank you guys, but I still can´t see my photo. Imgur and the Bucket seems to have given up on me. Or did someone delete the internet?

Frank , good looking pipe, for my experience Odoms smoke really good, I have a bunch but my 2 best smokers are a Bertram and a Custombilt, the Bertram is a rare bird Grade 150, highest grade for these pipes, and is a fine smoker, the Custombilt is probably a low priced pipe but is a fine smoker, also Odoms hang good when you are reading.

When I read the title, I thought it might be about something else... Or.... It looks like your choice was between the three... High maintenance, minimal maintenance, no maintenance....good choice!

Here's the Bertram 150'grade, just smoked it on the porch, rainy and gusty winds, kept my hands warm.

Hahaha, this years motorcycle road trip is going into the Czech Republic - eye candy galore but of course high in mantenance costs if you fall for one. I better stick with the pipes! brad: Wonderful Oom Paul you´ve got yourself, it has the right shape!

Nice pipes for sure! I have one ugly cheap Lorenzo Spitfire Oom Paul, but boy, it is light and hangs just right. Great yard work pipe.

Nice hanger Frank. One of the better looking pipes in that shape I have seen.

My "little" Lorenzo. It holds about 1/3 of a tin.

Frank, That is a great pipe and the more I see them the more I want to see one in my pipe rack! Like you I never thought that was a pipe shape I would own but the varieties of finishes I keep seeing, I know there is one out there for me!

john: Wow, that should be the mother of all pipes! mike: It seems to be addictive, isn´t it? Why we are suddenly drawn to old codgers pipes? Is there something in the water? The CIA? Mmmmh.....

I wear a lot of Tweed on the job. Maybe it´s because of that?

I wear a lot of Tweed on the job. Maybe it´s because of that? My wife did buy me a cardigan for Christmas this year and added a hat to my "Old Fogy" collection. She has been reminding me that on Feb 28 I will have just started my adventure of being North of 50!

Mike, 50 is still spring training for codgerhood. The wife reminds me I can get senior discounts now at donut shops and burger places!

Haha! I have one as well. To me, it's one of the ugliest shapes around. But damn, it feels so good in the hand and hangs so easy between the teeth!

Mike, being north of 50 is better than going south before reaching it!
