Isn´t Everclear just pure alcohol? A permit for Spiritus? Germany would go berserk in the barbecue season!

I work nights, got off at about 8 AM and went by the grocery store to buy everclear to clean my pipes (and a six pack of beer) A well dressed old geezer that was bagging groceries kept giving me the judgmental hairy eye the whole time I stood in line waiting my turn.
I told the cashier .."this helps me keep my sanity driving the school bus, them kids are too rambunctious"....I thought the old guy was going to swallow his dentures.

Charlie, we can buy it in Louisiana without a permit. I usually buy 2 bottles at a time, buy it at the same Liquor store and yes I get the evil eye even when I say I clean my pipes with it. Humph I know what pipes you clean with it says the Older Fart than me when he bags it. Next, time I'll tell him my dog really likes this and since he can't Drive what the HELL.

I was told a few years ago that I needed a doctor's prescription for Everclear. I think we can buy it here now but I have not checked since I bought a half gallon bottle in Delaware for about $25.00. Pa has had it's head up it's butt about booze for so long that it is a joke we live with.

The law in North Carolina is that you can't buy any liquor that's over 100 proof. Dumb law.

Maryland banned Everclear. I think anything over 150 proof is forbidden. There is a company though that sells a 149 proof Everclear-like substitute.

I wish it had been banned here in Texas back in my college days before Tania mixed some up in a five gallon cooler with some damn cherry Kool-Aid. Would use gasoline to clean my pipes before I'd use that shite.

The last time I had Ever Clear was Halloween Night night in 1986..I made some Kool-Aid punch with that and some other clear stuff...gin,vodka...this is where I ramble so be warned...The day before I made the punch I charred and shellacked one of those wall hanging wooden spoons that used to be popular..anyway the night of the party I made my demon punch and then put a block of dry ice in the tub with the punch so it would "smoke" and then sat there with my burnt spoon mixing away..when I figured most of the regular gang showed up at the bonfire I carried the "smoking" vat of punch close to the fire and pulled the "burnt spoon" from the vat and loudly proclaimed " I think it is ready now!!" It was over an hour before anyone even tried a cup of the punch..all people would do is come and look at the spoon, get a horrified look on their face and leave. It was great theatrics for a Halloween Night bonfire party! I decided to get sober soon after losing the 3 days after that..anyhow that is my Ever Clear story.

You can buy "Spiritus" in every German drugstore of home improvement market. It is denatured with just a few percents of acetone so you can´t mix your own cheap booze. Works well with cleaning pipes and is dirt cheap. No permit needed too...
