Thanks! Yeah, Steve Laug gives a brief history as he wrote about restoring a calabash. Everything I have read is that it would be a pipe made in early 1900. rebornpipes.com/tag/replacing-a-meerschaum-cup-in-a-gourd-calabash-bowl/As for the stinger on the briar pipe, Mike Myers recommended removing the stinger, I thought that I told him to go ahead, but I musta thought it and went no further.😐 I got it back, stinger intact. It does feel like it has a good draw, so once I smoke it, I will decide on whether to have it removed. If it smokes well, I would rather leave it original.

Update:Saturday at the pipe club meeting, one of our members looked at the LHS pipe. "It looks like it has a threaded stinger" he said. Sure enough it had escaped my eyes. Maybe that is why Mike Myers didn't push the subject of removing the stinger.

Me wonders why some makers make a stinger that you cant cut off with a hack saw. LHS has been found guilty as charged by me more than once.
