The ugliest excuse for a dog just won the Westminster dog show for the second time in a row. the only thing more inbred than the pekingese are the judges! On the other hand a beautiful Whippet took second. Several years back, I watched that enjoyed it but it has been off my radar. What channel carries the dog show Ron? It was on the local Fox station. It's over for this year. We watch less of it every year. We love to see the beautiful dogs, But the Grand Champion looks more like an insect than a dog. Wife asked what would it look like if it was shaved. I said a huge slug. A lot of the normal looking dogs don't really look like the family pets anymore. The weimaraner in the shows are skinny runts compared to the one I had in the early 70s.

Church this AM, lunch and a nap afterwards, as usual. After naptime, it was a busy afternoon of chainsawing apart the three mulberry trees I cut down yesterday. When the chainsaw ran out of gas I took it as a sign that it was time to go fishing. After dinner, I put together the princess' rocker/glider.

I went for an early jog then decided to go into town to grab a coffee. Of course I brought my camera and was lucky enough to spot a seal that was real close to the shore, lying on a rock awash. This allowed me to take a good shot of it! I love when I get nice surprises such as these. Usually, they hang much farther away from the shore.

Long years ago I dabbled in showing. Danes. Couldn't stop doing it quick enough. The dogs were fine. It was the dreadful people I couldn't stomach. But it was Good Learning. I discovered something I would never, ever, do again.

I've seen a few swimming around when I'm walking along the coast, but I've yet to get a good photo of one.

I looked up the other tri-state markers. The Ark,OK,TX point is in the middle of the river and the Texhomex marker in in a pasture only 11 hours away.

After my all day trip on Friday the wife said we should drive up and see my dad. My wife loves her father-in-law. So I was allowed to take off a vacation day ( If I do it before I am going to get called to work I can turn one day into 3 days off) returned tools I had browed the evening before then packed for over night and then returned the car trailer to the guy I borrowed it from. Wife said we should buy him some beer for the use of his trailer I thought the same thing so five 30 packs later! We took the trailer and beer to him. Left there and drove to Humboldt and had supper with my folks 55th wedding anniversary. Stayed the night in a nice hotel room in Fortuna. Next day had a good breakfast out with a friend of mine the over to the folks to let the 4yo play. He loves throwing the ball for thier terrier. We left a little after 2 and were home before 8 and my wife did all the driving. Now time to clean up and get ready to climb back on the horse and go to work

My mom just called. She’s back at her senior independent living community with a clean bill of health. Thank goodness! That's good to hear, Ted. Was away for a couple days and just read your posts from the weekend. All the best to you and your Mom.

Bizarre day weather wise here. Was raining very hard early this morning before Mother Nature decided to turn off the tap. Managed to get into the office before she changed her mind and turned the tap back on. 😁🏌️♂️☔️

This might be a good time to buy a Hawken pattern flintlock, a bullet mold, charcoal, nitrites and sulphur. Flint can always be found. Good enough for Jeb Clampet. Good enough for me.

I consider this another day seized. After finishing up the princess' homebrew citronella spray project (filtering it into a sealed 5 gal bucket for later use), I finally got around to securing our mailbox. We and our neighbors have these big, monstrous things with a flap for the postman to deliver into and require a key for retrieval. The previous owner poorly secured ours (he did just about everything poorly--the house and grounds are a case study in half-@$$ery) with a half-inch bolt and stripped the head. Since I couldn't do anything about that, the next best solution was to drill up into the mailbox and secure it with a 3/16 bolt so that our box no longer bobs and pivots with every breeze. After that, the rest of the day was taken up with chainsawing down half a dozen young Mulberry trees on my neighbor's property (with his blessing, of course) and rendering them into bundles of branches and logs for the firepit. While all of this was going on, I had a pound of Sutliff 526 "Old Professor" sitting in the sun in a 5 gal bucket. Every so often, I'd shake it and stir it with my hand a bit. By 5:00 this evening, it was finally dry enough to divide into storage jars. It only took 7 hours of sun and wind! Kept the Icarus going almost nonstop with equal parts of Byzantium, Old Professor, and University Professor.
Tomorrow will probably be stacking firewood for next year, or fishing. Both need to be done.

AC has been acting up. Apparently we have a leak as it's cooler in the attic than in the house. They are supposed to be out tomorrow. Getting a new mattress tomorrow too. We should be in great shape by tomorrow night.

Getting a conventional mattress with an adjustable base this time.

Big doin's today and more running around than I like. Jack had his annual dental, ear, blood panel, and nail checkup and treatment today. I finalized my latest will and OK'd the gun trust I have created— final signing on Friday. Nothing on the books for t'row or the next day and that's a GOOD thing.
