Just watched a foreign film called “Along with the Gods: Two Worlds” on Amazon Prime. It’s a modern Korean version of Pilgrims Progress. Very well done! 👍😁

Last night I dug out the first TAKEN. Liam Neeson is a fine actor. His performance in MICHAEL COLLINS was spot-on. Then he got sidetracked into TAKEN, TAKEN 2, TAKEN 3. The first one was pretty good, but still below him and his considerable talent. A similar phenomenon happened to Robert Duvall— a really superb actor who could completely disappear into a role. Then he disappeared into his Gus schtick and never re-appeared. Such a waste for both men IMO.
(BTW, I have read that Neeson is very anti-gun and has made public statements to that effect. Yet every picture you see advertising his films for the last decade and more shows him holding a gun. I looked it up on the ‘net and in TAKEN ONE he kills 32-35 people. Sad to have to add hypocrisy to his credits.)

I hope the Corona has shown people what celebrities are all about, hey jump in your jet and buy the shot. What a wonderful world we live in. For this thread, wife and I have been streaming on Amazon a series about a woman Dr in England at the start of the 19 th Centry where women could not vote and people were appalled at the idea of a woman Dr. Bramwell is the name of the series, very well done.

Cinemas have been closed here for the last few weeks and its really annoying. I'm not paying for cable anytime soon and I'm missing all those Russian alien movies that were set to replace the Hollywood blockbusters the studios aren't ready to release. It just sucks.

Just watched Jean-Luc Godard’s LE PETIT SOLDAT. (Criterion Collection) Heavy stuff. Roundly panned when released, largely because of its politiques which apparently offended everyone. Relentlessly intelligent, which is what draws me to Euro-cinema, especially French. BTW, if you want to watch a really excellent film, try AU REVOIR LES ENFANTS (Louis Malle). It will tear your heart out. But you’ll be grateful for it. 10+

Tonight, WARTIME IN WINTER. In Dutch, with English subtitles. Another WW2 film. Very well done. Surprising how much Dutch an English-speaker can understand. I give this one a 9.5.

Just watched “Copy Cat” on Amazon Prime. If you’re into crime, murder, suspense then this one is up your alley. Very similar to “Along Came a Spider” or “Hannibal “ esq type genre.
