I use my library app (Libby) and the Kindle app on my Android tablet. I was given a little tablet running Android 4.4. I can use Libby to access my borrowed library books on both tablets. However, the Kindle app isn't compatible with the older version of Android.
Does anyone know where to get an older version of Kindle? Amazon doesn't help. There has to be some workaround.

I'm lost ... are you trying to burn down the library? I'd skip the Kindle and just douse with flammable liquid. Your welcome.

I wasn't aware you could get older versions, but it makes sense - especially when all you need is for it to display text you'd think they'd make that possible and users can choose to use the older version and forfeit the all-bells-and-whistles version.

It would make sense, so maybe that's why I can't get it to work.
@darin Do you know how many professional comedians are out of work these days? Shame on you.

I'm sure there's an old version you can get somewhere. It's the internet; everything is somewhere. But who knows what malware might be in it if you get it from an unofficial source. I realize it's an old device and all you want to use it for is Kindle, but Kindle has a username/password someone could harvest, and it connects to your wifi and/or cell plan, etc. Somebody could combine that with other information they have about you, and do god-knows-what with.
I imagine Amazon is unhelpful because they want to push everyone to current, supported versions of their software. Every old version that's still out there hanging around is a headache, even if it's been officially desupported. They want those user counts down to zero. The last thing they want is to add somebody to the list of users of an old version on an old OS on an old device; they're not likely to help anybody do that.

I did come across a download on a site that I wouldn't trust. Oh, well.
Yup, it doesn't behoove them to offer it, when they can just sell me a new device.
