So I have tried two blends with apple flavors in them.
First was Sutliff Crumble Kake Aged Barrel #1. Nice apple smell when you opened it and nice mix of flavors including the apple. However after a week the apple flavor was gone. I tried it in different pipes and with different moisture levels. Apple flavor was just gone.
I am now trying some C&D White Lighting which has a applejack flavor in addition to the Virginia/perique and other flavors. First two days was primarily getting the Virginia/perique and applejack. Now the tin has been open for four days and still getting the Virginia/perique but the applejack is mostly gone.
Was wondering if anyone else has had this happen or if this is just my palate that is doing this. 🤔

I tried one of Russ' blends that was something Apple Pie and never tasted any apple at all. I don't think that apple holds up in pipe tobacco. You don't see apple cigars either. Maybe a vape? 😜😎🤠

I’ve had a bit of flavor blindness with these blends also. That’s why I quit smoking the barrel aged a few days in. However when I revisited the tin a few months later , it tastes and smells like apple again. I swore there was no hint of apple when I put it away. Sorcery?

I think it might have to do with simply getting used to a subtle flavor/smell. It's like people who always put on the same cologne and don't really smell it anymore.

I knew a couple of ol' timers that came to the shop that would keep apple slices in their tobacco.

I found Apples and Cream from C & D , but the reviews don't speak too highly as to apple flavor with that one either.

I just re-hydrated some Dorchester with an apple slice. Left the apple in the can for a week. Came out with a nice true apple flavor that's understated and quite pleasant.

Russ O. of Hearth and Home had a Grand Ma's Apple Pie too, as Ronv69 said . I really wanted to like that one , as the description made my mouth water...it smoked like a bowl of hot air, and ended up being the only H & H blend i couldn't get along with.

I've experienced the same thing with C&D Apricots & Cream. It's an all black cavendish and had a creamy mild apricot flavor - but for quite a while now, I've not been able to taste the apricot at all. Today I smoked it in a meer, expecting to taste the apricot this time. No such luck. Now it's just a fairly pleasant creamy black cavendish.
I've got another separate jar of it that's been sealed up for several months. Wonder if it will still have flavor? Probably not. If I buy this again, I'll have to just buy a few ounces and smoke it in the first few months.
