I'm on the hunt for cheap (<$100) pipe with a deep bend and a massive bowl. Something I can let hang in my jaw and burn for a few hours, while I'm working in the shop. It's going to get banged up out there, and probably get hit with sparks and flying metal bits, so I don't want to invest much. First thought was an MM MacArthur, but the bend on them isn't as deep as I am looking for. Maybe a Rossi 8614? Anyone got one? Or any other suggestions? All feedback is welcome at this point.

I've got a Rossi Vittoria 8811. Only an 1/8 to 1/4 bend, but good sized bowl. I think it's a great pipe for the 45 bucks and change that it cost me. I'm sure the other shapes will perform just as well.

Got a sweet pipe from Ron on a past Christmas...holds more than I can smoke at one sitting...it is a beauty, and was a gift from him...that made my Christmas!

I admit though, I might baby the lovat he made for me. I wouldn't dare have it hanging from my jaw while I'm running the grinder!

Sounds like the perfect job for some MM Cobs to me! Light, easy to clench, low maintenance. Bring a few that are pre-loaded if you don't want to take any breaks. I suppose that doesn't cover the deep bend part but they can be modified too.

Don’t want to stir the pot but I’ve been smoking an old Savory for years while Bushhogging.

I’m sure if you just search eBay. You’ll find some cheap estate pipes that will fit the bill. And if anything happens your out just a few bucks. And like Darin said. Just load up some MM’s and grab them as you need them. that way you can switch up tobaccos also.

I'm not sure the bowls are as big as what you're talking about, but I imagine if you're puffing a fairly slow-burning tobacco one would last a good couple hours.

I think you are right, the chamber on the 8614 really isn't all that big. I am finding all sorts of neat stuff on ebay though. I always forget to look there.

Well gents, in the end I decided to opt for more tobacco money less pipe money. So I picked up nearly 2lbs of tobacco and 8 MM Pony Express, eff it.

For a future purchase, the MM freehand might work well for you. I thought long and hard about that one, and the time is definitely coming, I want to mess around with modding a few of the $6 ones before I go trying to increase the bend on the $40 one, but I think you are dead right man, the freehand would be perfect.
