Good morning, pipers.
My name is Joe. I've been smoking pipes for over 25 years, beginning with my first pipe (a Peterson 309) purchased in Ireland when on a trip with family. I was 14, but let's keep that between us. Despite my face turning the color of a shamrock from a combination of my uncle's Captain Black Classic and my inexperience, I persisted.
I'm pretty much a one bowl a day smoker (since the start of Covid, that is - silver lining), and I eschew most aromatics in favor of Latakia-based and Virginia-based tobaccos.
Until recently, I had been on Facebook and a member of several groups there (Pipe Smokers of America, Old Codgers, Christian Pipe Smokers, Catholic Pipe Smoker's Den, Philosophical Gentlemen's Pipe Smokers, and Gentlemen's Pipe Smokers). I went by Tom Moore on Facebook, but I'm back to my real name here, Joe. After 13 years of daily Facebooking, I decided to hang up my Like button and sever all ties. I'm here because one of the things I miss the most about it was the good, positive, and helpful pipe groups I left behind. I'm looking forward to this forum helping to scratch that itch.
Well, that's about it. If you actually read all this, I have to wonder about you. But maybe not. Cheers!

Welcome to the Patch. Beware that you're more likely to contract an itch here than have one scratched.

Welcome to the forum, Joe!
I get leaving Facebook, the nonsense has gotten ridiculous. They constantly offer us at the Arizona Pipe Club, freebies to enlarge our audience. When we opt to do so, they let us know that the offer does not extend to smoking reprobates. It is just a matter of time until they send us packing.
I used to live in the Bay Area, and the last time I was in Lincoln I dropped loaded semi-trailers set up as commissaries for the cooks serving the fire crews.
Beautiful country!

Hello and welcome. I grew up in that area. First the Loomis/Penryn area, then Auburn, and High School in Grass Valley. I now reside in the little town of Fernley, NV. About 30 miles east of Reno.

adding my greets/welcome from 50miles East of Buffalo, NY. The only one here from that area (bummer as nobody close who can decifer much of WIN10). No aros here either, been a latakia nut-job for past 15yrs. All 53 misc pipes have lucite stems, easy-care my motto. Like above folks, a joy to be here & at the chat late evenings in Eastern zone
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY pipe/cigar since '62 so old, telling time with a calendar works

All 53 misc pipes have lucite stems, easy-care my motto. I don’t mind the feel of vulcanite, but hot dog, for maintenance purposes you can’t beat the lucite/acrylic. I’m just happy I’m not one of those who are put off by the mouth feel.
