I just noticed they make 9mm filter adapters that lower the opening to 3mm. Is this really needed? I've been smoking my Worobiec without filter or adapter and haven't noticed any problem. What is the benefit of an adapter?

What is the benefit of an adapter? The theory is that it will maintain the same draw. Most of us like the more open draw anyway.

^^^That, and doesn't cause turbulence which causes gunk buildup. [Insert fluid mechanics lesson] Of course, reverse calabash pipes were/are quite popular. I smoke my Grabows and MMs sans filter. It's a wide open draw in cobs and I like it that way.

I still prefer the 11.43×23mm.

^There are a number of reason I suppose for the 9mm's popularity... Putting aside the practical & technical aspects of the round, the cartridge did come from one of the first fairly successful semi-automatic pistols and predates the Third Reich. Marry this to the fact that red-pilled Americans generally love GUNS and you have a marriage...
PS If I remember these things correctly....
I love the .45. In my humble opinion the 1911 is also a better pistol than the P08..... My favorite handgun round is probably the .357 Mag .... It depends on the time of day, week, year etrc. .. lol

If I had to guess, I think the biggest (nontechnical) factor in the 9mm's popularity is the American police forces (local, state and federal). When the police moved from the revolver to semi-auto years ago, by and large it was the 9mm that replaced the .38. This in turn brought the round to the forefront of the American gun buyer.
