I imagine you could make a good bit of money while you're there sir. Truthfully.........No! I haven't the time to make any amount of pipes that would be good enough to sell there. That and I would be uncomfortable selling there for numerous reasons.

I know how you are about the quality of your work, but I also know the quality is amazing, and you have 6 months to get ready... I won't be going this year, or probably even next year, but someday, I'm going to make it. |

Well, it's not so much the quality of my work but, the scrutinizing by some that just have an axe to grind, that and I'm not a machine like a lot of other makers. It takes me at least 4 days to make a pipe and I'm going to need at least, lets say 10-15 pipes to sell and make pipes to sell for my
website and any commissions that may come in. I just don't have enough hands sir.

, your work is beyond incredible...and they can grind any axe they want to...nobody makes pipes like you do...and Cramps is right up there too. I realize you don't have enough hands to do all the work, but the level and quality of your work is equal or better than most of the carvers I have seen on the internet. The exposure you could gain would be incredible...maybe the two of you could get together and make the trip. Yeah, I realize it isn't just the cost of the trip, you would have meals and lodging to consider. If I had the money I would sponsor both of you. |

Some are staying away and we respect that, but time marches on and for those like myself that think that so much Bull$hit is involved, time to keep calm and puff on. Those that stay home, we respect your decision based on your situation. Those that choose to spend times with brothers of the briar, we respect your decision based on your situation. |

If I’m vaccinated by then and gatherings are allowed, I hope to be there. However, I do find myself wondering if the show organizers gave any consideration to the effect that this will have on the Columbus Show which was already scheduled for two weeks later.

I'm fully vaccinated at this point, so I am not worried about that aspect. I am concerned that they might be pulling the trigger a bit soon in the grand scheme of things, and turnout will suffer. I will keep my eyes on it though, as I might make a game-time decision if it is still on come mid-summer.

I will be fully vaccinated in two weeks and am about 8 hours away by car, so I may drive and go and hang out away from people. Although the competition might be fun. I've only done one slow smoke and did not do well, but hey...it's something to do.

With great regret we announce the cancellation of the 2021 Chicago Pipe Show due to the Covid-19 restrictions now issued in place. On Friday March 19, 2021, the Illinois Governor issued a statement regarding the full opening of Illinois meeting places. The predicted timeline is such that we would not know if we could hold a show until some date in July. The financial commitments that the CPPC, show vendors and pipe collectors would have to make in the next few months is a risk that we cannot make. As if that was not enough to cancel the 2021 Show, on Sunday March 20, 2021, the Olympics cancelled all 600,000 tickets held by persons not living in Japan over concerns about foreign travel and restrictions. As an international show we cannot host a show with out our worldwide vendors and pipe collectors. Therefore, we came to the conclusion that it was not feasible to hold our show in 2021.
