That doesn't include the unspoken Cobs hat are stashed. Or the 5 or 6 legends that are around.

That is ok Justin. The one thing that got me in to cobs is as I have gotten older I have lost a bit of control in my hands. Meaning all of a sudden I drop things with out notice. All of this was caused by a sever Motorcycle accident in 1985. Enjoy what you smoke and smoke what you enjoy.

And I can't get into aros. If I met someone who wanted to try smoking though, I'd give him a Country Gentleman, a baggie of 1Q and a damn Bic. Then I'd go home to my Cumberland Canadian and Latakia Flake and wonder what the poor people were smoking today

...each to his/her own... And so it goes with our hobby! Virtually everything involved whether it be tobacco's, pipes, or sometimes even technique...some fold and stuff, some rub out, some do both....it is a hobby laden with subjectivity, aesthetic, taste, etc... I live my cobs and meerschaums, but if I as stuck on the proverbial desert island, I would want my briars....but wait a minute...if it is a humid island would I be better off with my meers.

You make some wise points...I'm always amused when I see/read that someone has found the perfect or the best pipe tobacco available...In my 55 years of pipe smoking, I've found many...Choosing pipe tobacco is always a journey...not a destination...some journey's end quickly...others, last a lifetime...

A Mark Twain with just over 1,200 smokes through it when I took this photo. From Pipesmokersforum a gentleman over there named Charlie was running a long-term experiment to prove whether or not you could burn out a cob. Well, today the cob has just about 2,000 smokes through it and still looks much like the photo. We've been sending it all around the country for any member to smoke the pipe for 2 weeks and then pass it on to the next member on the list. Also completely proves you don't need to let it dry or take any special care of a cob. This Mark Twain was smoked for many months at 10+ bowls a day. I smoked almost 8 bowls average through this cob for 2 straight weeks and did not smoke any other pipe. It literally smoked like a dream. Any blend, we've all smoked absolutely anything through it .Rum Twist, Ennerdale, Grasmere, Carter Hall, Haunted Bookshop, latakia. Whatever. Smokes like the best pipe you've ever put in your mouth over 1,000 smokes later.

Somehow the picture got all distorted from the image host. (It was fine for years) but here's a circa 1965-1970 Dr. Grabow Legend, bent. They were made by Missouri Meerschaum for Dr. Grabow. And... it appears several photos are screwed up. Awesome. This picture is a few years old, but here are other various cobs. Many of these have had 1,000 or more bowls through them since last photo'd. Plus several others have been added.
