Finished lunch. Lighting up some Bengal Slices for dessert. Bengal Spice tea on the side and Jeremy Brett’s version of Sherlock Holmes to keep me company. The game’s afoot Watson!😁👍

Beautiful night in central New York so I'm out back by a fire enjoying a bowl of University Flake in a 2019 Peterson St. Patrick's day 05 with my new best friend, a black and white feral cat who now lives with me.

Chatham Manor in my 1955 Dunhill Root Briar group 1 Apple. What's your take on Chatham Manor? I've seen very mixed reviews (which can be said for most pipe tobaccos, I suppose).

Chatham Manor is one of my "go to" blends. It can easily be an all day smoke. Many times I’ve gone on work trips for a week and just taken along three pipes and some Chatham Manor. To put it another way, I have ten unopened 14oz tubs of it in my cellar. When I stocked up a few years ago, it was only $25 for a tub and P&C had some buy 2 get 1 free sales. I don’t smoke many burley blends. When I do, it's usually a semi-aro burley such as Chatham Manor, Prince Andrew, Angler's Dream, or Lane Ready Rubbed. I also like Pegasus but often add some Green River Vanilla to make "Pegasus River".

Do you like it because it's a good match, or do you just like it regardless of matchiness?

Today, I smoked Haunted Bookshop driving to and from Paul's Pipe Shop in Flint. Since returning home, I smoked Three Friars/Pegasus/more HB/Granger in various pipes. Also, smoked Paul's Pipe Shop Arrowhead in a Grabow Viking. Not sure about this stuff, yet. Now, I'm smoking Mac B Navy Flake in my James Upshall Dublin. Good pipe/good tobacco.

I generally don’t smoke aros, but I love Arrowhead. It’s also one of the very few aros that ages spectacularly. I dry mine way down.

Same thing for Prince Andrew vs Prince Albert. Carter Hall and Prince Albert both have a funny chemical taste when lighting. That goes away but I don’t find good tobacco taste. Chatham Manor and Prince Andrew are both made with high quality tobacco with great taste. I also notice the semi-aro flavorings which I don’t with Carter and Al.

Vanilla Custard in my Peterson Canadian as I’m craving something sweet. I’m also enjoying the sounds of raindrops dancing on my patio table. Finding it very calming this morning. As usual, Bengal Spice tea on the side.
