My Daughter's Detroit wedding shower was today, the next one's in Cleveland, in May. So, before and after, Haunted Bookshop in a cob. Also, tried some Paul's Pipe Shop 58th Anniversary Mixture in a Grabow Viking. Don't know about this one, either. Drying out some Arrowhead from Paul's for a 2nd tasting. While I'm waiting, more Haunted Bookshop in a MM Great Dane Spindle.

Opening Night in my Savinelli Onda. More Bengal Spice tea on the side. What an awesome blend! Totally forgot how much I love Opening Night. Just enough tart and tangy citrus to put a big smile on my face.😁

But, it was fun watching them open gifts. Food (brunch-type stuff, although my plate was straight-up breakfast) was good. My son and a brother-in-law kept me company at the outer edge of the festivities.

One tobacco I found to my liking on my visit to Paul's is Granger. They had a few tubs of it up on a shelf with a few more OTCs (no PA or CH). I've been curious about Granger and never could find it anywhere. So far, my favorite codger blend. The Arrowhead has been drying for 5 hours, and its still too wet to smoke. Dumped the whole bag out on a plate to dry overnight. If this stuff tastes okay, I'll jar it up at the right humidity level.

Yes it can be awkward being a male at a wedding shower. Having said that you did the right thing just being there for your daughter. Be seen but don’t speak. 🥂👍

Did a guy thing yesterday with my future son-in-law. He accompanied me on the trip to Paul's Pipe Shop. We had a good time. Both of us spent money there. I guess he got interested in pipe smoking, when I resumed. He smokes only outside at their house, but will smoke indoors with me at our house.

Had to step away from the Balken Sasieni for the eving! KBV Jupiter slices in a Ryan Alden rusticated Bing. Decaf Peets on the side with a touch of JW Red next to it.

C&D Professor in my Danish made Stanwell Flawless 54 Billiard. Beautiful looking pipe John. Lovely lines on this one! Thanks! It was reflected in the price, but well worth it as it smokes as good as it looks.

Sounds like a great match and you’ve got yourself a pipe smoking partner too. Works for me.

Georgian cream in a Brigham Algonquin. Cold milk for company. It's rather peaceful tonight, with rain clouds rolling in.

Never have done it, since it's either a whole lot or none.

The Arrowhead is finally dry enough to smoke. Smoking it in a Grabow Viking. No musty basement or dusty attic notes in this one. But it has a perfumey flavor in the background. The rest of it is drying on a paper plate. I think it'll go into a jar and be forgotten in the back of the cellar for a while. I don't know about these blends.

I’ve never gotten a perfumey flavor from Arrowhead. It's odd or I'm odd. I haven't given up on it yet. But, I'm having a tough time with the blends I picked up there. The 58th Anniversary had a musty, dusty "attic" note and flavor. What's New Pussycat is just bad. That one was my son's idea, from reading the online descriptions. We wanted to try the St. Patrick's Day blend, but there wasn't any on the shelf. Even if I never understand their tobaccos, I'll be going back from time to time to peruse their Yello-Bole/Medico/Kaywoodie/Dr. Grabow selections. Their Cayuga pipes cover pretty much every price point, too. Do you have any Cayugas in your collection? I picked up a Dr. Grabow bent Viking and a Medico cutty/belge for pretty cheap.

Now smoking GH Broken Scotch Cake in the Medico that I just mentioned. I should have added that walking into Paul's is like stepping back in time. Also, everyone there is friendly and eager to help you out with anything you're interested in. We even had a pipe/tobacco related conversation with another customer, an actual, live human being. It was a great experience.
