Ran clear back home on lunch to grab this off the porch and load up so I could smoke it on the way back. So glad I did. Old Ironsides in this gorgeous rdpipes morta rhodesian. Beautiful pipe! I don't have any morta pipes. How do they smoke, compared to briar? This is my first, so I don't have much basis for comparison, but I can say that this pipe smoked like a dream. Very cool, very dry, no flavor imparted that I noticed, just the tobacco. For me, it's all about the age. Morta is ancient, and there is just something really cool about smoking from a piece of functional art that is crafted from wood that existed on this planet during the BC/BCE years.

They smoke better than meers and clays, don't transfer heat, don't burn out and don't hold a ghost that a standard cleaning won't get rid of. I find that they aren't quite as nice as a well broken in briar, but close.

Smoking my own "K-9"blend ,and sending up a cloud of rum raisin flavored smoke to honor a fine old dog ,who was lucky enough to spend his last days in the company of a pipe smoker. The pipe is my RDpipes Rhodesian.

Mac Baren Symphony in a MM Missouri Pride. Bought a tin of this on a whim last September and didn't care for it. Harsh and bitey, it's Mac Baren after all. I decided to put it in a pint jar, after it dried out a little, and forget about it for a while. It's turned out to be a nice tasting, smooth tobacco, without the bite. The tobacco was packed in 2017, so it already had a few years on it.

SPC Potlatch with a sprinkle of semois. (Tabac Manil) Savinelli Antique Shell 515 Semois draws out an amazing tartness of the potlatch The big square Savi has a nice tapered bowl which adds a dimension to a smoke..

Chocolate Flake is a favorite of mine. I don't have any open at the moment as I'm trying to mange the number of open blends that I have - too many tins and jars rattling around. It'll come up in the rotation pretty soon, though. Just lit up a bowl of Pegasus in a MM Missouri Pride.
