Yeah, a bit of birdseye. Amazingly , Erik graded it C in his system of A down to D. I've seen people describe bird's eye as inferior, and less desirable to most pipers. I think that's nuts.

Beautiful evening with a slight breeze as temperature currently sitting at 65F. Perfect time to enjoy a Night Train with a wee dram of scotch (Hyland Park) on the side. Good evening everyone.

taiguy66 Billy Budd Blonde is quite good, but didn't knock my socks off, though if I was still actively building a cellar, I might consider adding a pound. It might take me this ounce to figure it out. It's got the kitchen sink in there and each component is detectable. They all play nice. It leans more toward burley than Virginia, methinks. Cigar leaf is evident, but not pushy. Has a bit of nicotine. Worth a try. Also I detect notes of toasted abalone shell, scents of red tide on the New England shoreline in early July, Ripple, creosote on a warm freshwater dock piling, Bernese Mountain Dog dewclaw, gin-soaked sultanas, and portabello & Swiss omelet. Oops, disregard that last sentence until I try it in a meer. Anyway, Watch City Slices in a MM Pride, ginger ale back.

C&D Virginia Gentleman in a Washington. Extra large mug of decaf tea, because it's coldy-cold for April.

Balkan Sasieni in a blasted Rdpipes lovat this morning, pu'erh tea on the side. Been waiting to try this blend in this pipe, and it did not disappoint. I think I have actually found a genuine all day smoke.

Doubling down on Jason’s comment above... a spell? More like a tobacco love potion. Thanks again sis.

April 16th. Still sore from laboring, i tried to get more redburn smoked this morning yet dumped 3/4 of a bowl out. The wife grabbed the tin and tossed it in the trash after i complained. Wont say thats a bad thing. I cant waste tobacco and have gotten through some bad blends and homebrew trainwrecks but was relieved when the opened tin hit the bin. My suggestion to C&D is to use better rum and drop the berry flavor. It is good at first light, slight sweet berry but I suspect it is the culprit later in the bowl. So i opened my one tin of c&d montford point marine and currently mid bowl. Dark and slightly sweet so far. I can tell it is a potent blend but a nice sweet hint ties it together so far. Almost as if the perique is given a chance to be fruity. Anyhoo, Addendum: Montford point marine blend.. First bowl and it is nice. Dark, slightly sweet start, good satifying smooth flavor midbowl, but a great finish. Found I had little left in the bottom. A nice almost oriental flavor at the end. My only comparision is a nub of a good cigar. Sometimes a cigar would be average at first but make a nub so flavorful it was hard to let go as even unlit it was tasty. Montford point seems to have a similar character and that is a welcome development! We will see after half a tin

MacBaren Old Dark Fired ready-rubbed (compliments of Jason fadingdaylight !) in my Grabow freehand. I'm determined to smoke my way through this magnificent CARE package he sent, and this was the bag I grabbed this morning. I've intentionally not researched any of the tobaccos, since I don't want to prejudice myself one way or the other. I was convinced that I don't care for Burley blends, but I really like this one!

I love this tobacco, for me it’s what tobacco should be. It’s like coffee for me. I like my coffee black and strong, because I actually like the taste of coffee. Cream, sugar, chocolate, pumpkin spice etc.. they have their place but they don’t taste like coffee to me.

I've got a jar of flake from 2015 still stewing that I really want to crack into, but I've got a few open tins to finish up first. Professor S. try the ODF in a cob, it's heavenly.

Thought I'd try something a little different...so I put a little McClelland's 5100 with some Bengal Slices to see if it spiced it a bit...turned out to taste like a vinegarey dog turd...not a good taste...so following in others' footsteps it hit the trash can about half way through....yuk!! Butternut burley in a Cramps special apple.
