These old catalogs are always a joy to look at. The Super Grain for $5.00 is amazing.

Love the old ads, and the pipes. Got a few Woodies in my collection. Could probably pick them out of those shape charts.
Thanks for sharin.

Many years ago a much older than me at the time co worker who was partly responsible for me becoming a pipe smoker only smoked Kaywoodies. He told me that when he was a coal miner back in the mountains of West Virginia he bought them at the company store. Many times he told me that Kaywoodie was the only good pipe made.Of course that was just his opinion. The odd thing is that while I've owned several different brands of pipes I've never smoked a Kaywoodie..I'll always remember my buddy Charlie smoking his though..I miss him.

When I first took up the pipe (again) for good, a kind brother from a now defunct forum sent me two briars. One was a Kaywoodie. Age and I use showed through. He gave me a brief history of the pipe. I am at least the fourth owner. Dating is difficult, but it is definitely pre-1932. One has to visit several "dating" sites to narrow it down. Each site offers unique clues.
Best I can determine is the pipe was made between 1929-1932.
It is an old faithful. It smokes anything well. I have a second one that is post 1932. It also smokes wonderfully. My objection is the stinger if for nothing more than cleaning.

Yo Jus
Thanks for that wonderful archive. I treasure my K'Woodies, both old and new. And one of the best things about the NE Holiday Parties is that you get a KW for the SloSmoke. Several of them are among my best puffers.

I just love how non-PC old catalogs and adverts were. If you are young and thin, smoke these. If you are a fat arse, smoke these. And I am sure the fat folks didn't complain at all that they were being singled out and their little feelers were hurt.

I consulted with lestrout about the one KW I now own and he told me to jump on it. I bought it from a guy on another forum and I'm glad I did. I never knew that they produced Hand Made pipes.

Also found this interesting Kaywoodie at an antique store in Mississippi. Got it all cleaned up and smoked it yesterday. Smoked great. Here is a before and after.

I have never been a fan, though I appreciate Kaywoodie's history and contributions.
