My nicotine tolerance is weird. Sometimes Royal Yacht turns me green, other times I can smoke Burley Flake #3 all morning with no problem. Why do you think this is?

Glucose levels in the blood, hydration, sleep amounts and other factors including your own pH at the time. If you feel the nicotine coming on too strong just take a spoonful of honey or eat some chocolate.

As in, too low or too high? If glucose etc too low, then nic hit?

As in, too low or too high? If glucose etc too low, then nic hit? Nicotine affects insulin response and how your cells use glucose. While it may raise the actual glucose level, it can inhibit it's usefulness to the cells. An immediate boost from a simple sugar helps to offset those woozy feelings.

Yeah, when I get too much nicotine on board I eat something with a lot of sugar -- usually an orange or a banana.

So, you can get woozy off nicotine because it inhibits your useful glucose, so if your glucose is low enough when you smoke you get the nic hit, but ingesting some simple sugars like chocolate will immediately raise your glucose level and woozy goes away.
For hydration and sleep, is it also a glucose level issue? Being low on water and sleep lowers your glucose, so even if you're tired and thirsty eat a Snickers to feel better?

Actually, being dehydrated will raise your blood sugar just by simple concentration. I still would eat the snickers though!

Dadgummit CobGuy.
Darin, "Glucose levels in the blood, hydration, sleep amounts and other factors" affect nic hit or not.
Me: How?
Darin:
Glucose too low = Nic hit so eat sugar.
Dehydrated = Nic hit because glucose too high so eat sugar.
Sleep =

Lol ... I'm just trying to say that your personal state of being, or homeostasis, changes and this will affect your absorption rates.

You're just making up words now. "Homeostasis." Right.

I used to smoke two packs of Camel Lights a day, but a bowl of ODF would give me the nicotine sweats and keep me up at night. No rhyme or reason that I could see... but I'll go with Darin's explanation, lol.
