I'm terrible at identifying flavors, etc., but I would say the Sutliff has more complexity. You get -- or I get, anyway -- some of those dark fruit flavors. HH is a very straight-ahead Virginia, as the name suggests. I hear it develops some very nice complexity with age, though. I plan to find out. The Sutliff should only get better with age, too, though. Sutliff's on my shopping list. Thanks. At the price, it is a righteous bargain. Kudos to Les for cluing me in on it.

I've got plans to add a few pounds of Sutliff Voodoo Queen in the few weeks I'm not familiar with that one. Good stuff? It's not bad, Josh sent me some last year, and I enjoyed it. I'm no good with categories and flavor profiles, but it's an affordable option that I know I like, so I figure it's a good place to start building up my cellar.

All I can say, is find what you like and buy it.
On the most recent Pipesmagazine podcast, Brian Levine says that legislation is making it's way through the budget bill that will increase bulk tobacco by $50.00 per pound and $5-$7 per tin going forward.

Not all. I have a tin of Heinrichs #30, but haven't cracked it yet. I gather you're a fan.

The new #30 is a totally different blend. Old #30 is basically broken Special Curly plus Syrian Latakia.

Syrian is really quite good...if you find someone willing to part with it, you should grab it...not making it anymore

Most of my cellar was purchased years ago, before all of the internet nonsense started. Revor Plug and Walnut Flake were british baccies that I could only find across the pond at the time I purchased. I believe Walnut Flake is still made but the recipe and maker have changed. It is now called Original Flake (which I have never tried). I loaded up as I figured I wouldn't have many changes to get my greedy hands on it. Very happy with my decision as they are always something I reach for.
"A full flavoured, pressed and cured plug cut tobacco, Revor Plug is a blend of Kentucky and Virginia manufactured by Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. It’s popular with experienced pipe smokers wanting a strong tasting smoke."
"Walnut Flake is an exceptionally cool, slow burning flake tobacco with a rich and distinctive aroma. Ideal for those smokers who appreciate the full bodied rich flavor of choice leaves spiced with burley and fire-cured tobaccos.

Sure looks like something is up with pipestud. Maybe he is on vacation. I know he has been challenged by the authorities as of late, he had to move operations from his home to a commercial space. I don’t doubt that they moved the goalposts on him.

"Has pipestud been castrated by the digital overlords?" It appears that he has...for now..I think he explains it on his website...but for now, far as I can see, he has had to stop selling tobacco.

He's had issues with PayPal and I think with MasterCard. I know he working hard to get back online. IMO I can't believe most of us can still mail order tobacco. It's only a matter of time. I still buy tobacco a few ounces every week at my local pipe shop. Even at retail price it's nice to have a local shop that has what I smoke.

Pretty sure revor plug has been discontinued. McClellands dark star discontinued McCranies red ribbon discontinued And Black and Brown? I think that it is still available, but you might want to sign up at the places to be notified when it is in stock. Smokingpipes, Pipes and cigars, tobaccopipes, etc...
