Finally armed, primed and ready. Slowly creeping forward to my prey on the window, the predator seeks his prey. With armament raised and well aimed, a shot is loosed and a victim falls dead to the floor.

Now, strangely quiet here. It is as though word has spread through the fly community, a new Sheriff is present.

I stopped of at Billy the kid’s grave not too long ago when traveling through New Mexico. Sounds like you have a lot in common, John.

Of course he did. Outrageous the way he was convicted. But he did it.

Of course he did. Outrageous the way he was convicted. But he did it. I have no way of knowing if he did or not. SOme say he murdered that kid others say not. He was retried in a mock trial in the 80s and acquitted on the evidence, insufficient to convict beyond a reasonable doubt. 300 yards with a Winchester 94 would, indeed, be a great shot.

Agreed that the evidence was insufficient. Kinda reminds me of the Cosby situation re the "constitutional" shenanigans used against him. Not that it matters, but I still think he did it, based upon my reading. The trial scenes in the Steve McQueen movie were absolutely ridiculous and kinda ruined the film for me.
Get them flies!

Hollywood movies are seldom based upon facts. What makes a good story? Horn's conviction was largely based upon .30-30 cartridge casings found at the "crime scene". He was not the only one to own a .30-30 nor be the only ammunition buyer,

I wonder how many of the people Bass Reeves killed "resisted". My understanding is that, over 30 years a lawman, he made 3,000 arrests and killed 14 who resisted. Good record.

I would say that if Reeves arrested 3000 and only killed 14 resistors, considering the time, he was one cool-headed dude.

I just want to complain. The Bug-A-Salt gunpiece I have, the Black Ops Model, is nicely made. However, the trigger is worse than the worserest Moissan rifle ever handled. I mean it does not creep, it moves at a glacial pace before abrupt discharge. The cross bolt safety is not really needed as it take determination to fire.

I bought one 2 weeks ago and am having a lot of fun with it. I get my Rambo outfit on and the little buggers are mine. Picked off a few spotted lantern fly nymphs this week. They die hard. Usually take a couple of shots.

I have not had one in my office/den since I started the predation program. Even though my window is open to the outside with no screen. It is as though they know something is up!

This has been observed in coyote populations as well: intense hunting and trapping pressure brings on accelerated breeding.

Hoards of flies in the kitchen. Put up fly strips, swatted with swatter and fired salt. Need a belt fed automatic gun.

Tried taking out the garbage?N Garbage is not the issue. Cat food possibly. Not certain what draws them in. Being a dry place, flies are common outside.
