The timelines on which trees and tortoises exist is hard to even think about. Just imagine how change-tolerant you have to be to keep on functioning for that long while the world changes around you.

My grandmother came to Texas in a covered wagon in 1886 and flew to California in a 747 after watching men walk on the moon. Boggles my mind.
