Pipe smoker since 2013. Long enough to see McClellands go and start me on a cellar building phase. Lone Peterson p-lips and their way of bringing back old shapes. Glad to be here and meet some great people.

What is the pipe scene like in NH? Been periodically taking trips to different states with my girlfriend. Trying to find somewhere to relocate to and start fresh. I don’t know anyone from NH but I was curious what your thoughts are on the state? What is the pipe scene like there and are there any pipe shops in the area?
In my state I only know of 2 full fledged pipe shops. Both on opposite sides of the state sadly. So just seeing another pipe smoker in my state is a rare occurrence.

Welcome serendipityhunter,
I'm not sure where you are currently from, but I moved up to NH from down south almost 20 years ago, and have lived in 7 different states from NH down to FL and out to CA. New Hampshire is at the top of my list. A short drive to great mountains and hiking, or to the coast and good seafood. Despite being one of the older states, it has a smallish population, and is mostly made up of small towns, each with their own identity. New Hampshire is pretty proud of its motto "Live Free or Die". There is no income tax, no sales tax, and no seat belt or motorcycle helmet laws if over 18. There are taxes on prepared food, hotels, and property. It is a beautiful state, but know that winters can be long and cold, and summer is short.
As for a pipe smoking community, there isn't much of one where I am at in the Lakes Region. There are plenty of cigar bars around, but the main stores I am aware of in NH that cater to the pipe smoker are Gold Leaf on the coast, Happy Jacks in Laconia (Lakes), and Twins in Londonderry (Central). The Boston area, about 60 miles south, has a much stronger pipe community with some great shops. LJ Peretti was established in 1870, and Watch City Cigar more recently in 1996. Both produce some great blends. There are also a few pipe clubs that meet in the Boston area, but I haven't been able to make it out to their meetings.

If you guys are close enough to meet up, all it takes is two people to start a pipe club, and regular meets help a tobacconist to justify carrying more stock. That is the story of the Arizona pipe club down here in rattlesnake land.
