For anyone interested, the cob cigar is amazing for the price. It's the most inexpensive reverse calabash you'll be able to try, I feel. Thing smokes cool and dry and I can pocket it with the cork. I've always wanted the briar cigar Chris makes, but couldn't justify the price on a perceived novelty. Now that said, based on the cob cigar, a briar one may be in my future for sure. Really enjoying it and don't feel it's a novelty but rather a worker.

I have one but have only smoked it once. I need to spend more time with it. I think that flakes may work better in it than ribbon cut blends. I'll take any advice I can get on that subject.

Saw them at the Vegas pipe show they didn't excite me. Would rather have another Cob Wasp.

I've yet to try a flake in it, fine idea, thank you. I do find myself rotating it constantly because I'm afraid of burnout.

I've always been curious about the cob cigars. A really cool idea. Happy to hear they smoke well! I have a MM little devil that is one of my favorite cobs. They do great work. Beautiful volcano in your profile pic btw.

Beautiful volcano in your profile pic btw. Thank you very much, it's a Todd Johnson Signature through Briarworks. It's a VA only pipe for me because the chamber is .75". I would say for the 19 dollars I paid for the cob cigar, it is most assuredly worth it. Aristocob.com is who I got it from because Scott and Jandy do a fantastic job and provide free tampers commonly. They are wonderful.

It does have a certain coolness factor. John, I believe yours is finished better than mine, as the plaster is more filled in and probably dissipates heat more uniformly overall. Thanks for posting the pic and also, thanks to your suggestion, a VA flake when rubbed a little finer, is a great choice in it. I'm showing you mine below.
