Here's the "state of the collection" after my recent buying spree. I think I'm done for the foreseeable future. Would love to see pics of other collections, as well!

Nice start. The thing with pipes is you will find others that flip your switch and before you know it you're up to 50. It is how we pipers tend to roll.

Outstanding start of a collection. now lock up your checkbook and hide your credit card, or you will be in deep trouble, but you'll have a lot of tobacco and pipes to see you through.

Nice collection Charlie. Like *papipeguy said. Something will catch your eye, and the next thing you know. You find pipes around the house that you forgot you even had!

The Chacom and Peterson are particular eye-catchers for me. Not to drift off-topic, but I really like that stand, too.
I used to have some pictures of my collection, before imgur disappeared them.

How would you rate the Ropp Etudiant? I've had my eye on one for a while but not sure whether to pull the trigger.

Nice pipes in your collection, Charles. You know, there's just something about a green pipe when its the right shade and finish, very nice. Been eyeing an Irish Harp myself, a Prince or Canadian. Does the stain/finish mask the grain of the stummel? I've looked at these pipes on SP and can't make out the grain very well in their photos.

How would you rate the Ropp Etudiant? I've had my eye on one for a while but not sure whether to pull the trigger. That was my first pipe, purchased (I would guess) ~2005. After some experience with other pipes, I realized my particular Ropp was poorly drilled. It smokes ok, and the bowl size is great for quick breaks. That probably doesn't help much, as you could easily get a dud from any factory pipe. Even so, I'm a fan of the brand and would get it again. It might even be an easy repair, if I could be bothered to look into it. It's lightness and size make up for the imperfections though. Nice pipes in your collection, Charles. Yeah, I thought that green color was pretty special as soon as I saw it on the wall. As for the Irish Harp, the stain very nearly does mask the grain. Here are some closer photos:

That's a nice collection. How do you smoke the honey drizzler? That's a secret reserved for the Savinelli elite. If we ever meet up and you can do the handshake, I'll show you.

Great thread! It's a slippery slope my friend. 4 years ago I had 1 pipe... (and one pouch of tobacco) The stable has grown significantly since then, over 100 or so. Admittedly the vast majority are estate pipes that I refurbed, but have been fortunate enough to have acquired a dozen or so new pipes. Enjoy the journey.

Other than Golf, Cigars and Airplanes, not much! ;-) So, how did you become interested in pipesmoking? BTW - great collection of bent bulldogs! Thanks Pete, I've shared here, prolly a few years ago, that when I was in the Navy, 1981-1987, I had the good fortune of meeting a retired Marine General. General Jim was a dear friend and mentor. I would carry his golf clubs on Sunday's after church and he would share his wisdom, stories and friendship. Not to mention cigars. One weekend I went sailing with him on his 41' Sloop. He came up topside with a box in his hand. It was a Dr. Grabow Royalton Bent Bulldog. He exclaimed that no respectable sailor could go through life without knowing how to smoke a pipe. He then proceeded to open up a pouch of Borkum Riff and show me how to properly pack and smoke a pipe. This was in 1981. Unfortunately during my divorce in 1987 my pipe disappeared. About four years ago I had the opportunity to tour the Dr. Grabow factory in Sparta NC. I shared my story with the VP during the tour. When we were leaving the factory he came up to me and handed me this.... A replacement for my lost "First" pipe. About 4 or 5 years ago I was up in my mancave, intending to smoke a cigar and have some Scotch. I realized that I was out of my regular sticks with only a few cubans in the humidor. Not wanting to waste a Cuban for no special reason I decided to grab my Nording off the shelf and smoke a bowl of Borkum Riff. I then decided to look up pipes and tobacco on the laptop. Next thing ya know I've completely outfitted the mancave, and have accumulated over 100 pipes and more than 300lbs of tobacco. Been a helluva fun ride.

Great story Dino. Love the man-cave. I'm not a chess player, but still think its a great feature.
