Finishing up some extra Bosun Plug this morning and wiping off stems that I left oiled last night. Cleaned up a 1960's Gefapip (French) black rusticated Canadian (what a mouthful), which was my grandfather's and I've had dedicated solely to Orlik Golden Sliced for many years. That BBB Own Make Thorneycroft was had in a thriftshop in the Denver area for $6 or $8, I can't remember which. Smoked great the first inaugural bowl last night and I will smoke that pipe again later in the afternoon.
Now it's the Bosun Plug in that same Savinelli unfinished 904 KS, which I caked in Halcyon II wax last night and buffed so now it's incredibly shiny.

Arango Balkan Supreme, for a change of pace, in a small apple shaped from Jason (Cramptholomew)...one of several "ugly" pipes. Not ugly to me and a great smoker on top of it. |

I wonder why they change the recipe, but don't change the name. If #31 isn't already used, assign it to the new blend. I realize that Peter is no longer around, but still...  Yes, it was a shock to receive the "new" #30. SP had gotten some in and the listing had the description of the old blend when I ordered four 100gm cans. When it arrived, it was a very unpleasant surprise to find a different description on the can. 😕 I popped one and tried a couple bowls and decided it was a decent blend even though totally different. So, I did not return the unopened cans. I contacted SP customer service and they quickly changed the description on their website. If anyone is familiar with Heinrich’s Special Curly which is small VaPer coins, the old #30 was partially broken up Special Curly plus just enough Syrian Latakia to be noticeable. It hadn’t been available anywhere for a couple years and when it showed up at SP, I expected the same blend but with a switch to Cyprian Latakia. |

Good on SP for fast corrective action, bad on Heinrichs for blindsiding them...or so it seems. I certainly did not know Peter Heinrichs, but what I know of him, this would have not have happened on his watch.  Thanks for the back story....that acorn is a beauty, by the way. |

Last time the grandkids came to stay we had all 5 at once ... all boys. 🤪 hehe I can imagine the fun! the 15 year old lives with us, we try to only have one of the other 2 (4 & 9) over at a time as the jealousy & desire for 1 on 1 makes it less fun for everyone. but they are only 30 minutes away |

EMP in the Chacom to start the day. The MIL's month-long visit is being broken up by a week visiting other family in Manchester, so it's a bit quieter around here. Covid case in the little one's school, so he's home today. Luckily, it's a new season of Fortnite today, so he'll happily be occupied while I work. Also, wish me luck. I'm weaning off some medicine that I indulged in too much for too long. Time to pay the piper. I expect some discomfort, but hopefully no seizures.  |

Sitting here on the porch enjoying a rare morning pipe of H&H Latakia flake Balkan blend. Two of my dogs alternating between barking at the neighbor dogs and getting some pets by me.
