Did some yard work, plopped down with a Corona Light, set fire to some Fribourg & Treyer Special Brown Flake in this old Ben Wade Reflection, and decided I am done for the day. Think I will get a shower and find something for dinner.... I think Herbert ( Goldbrick) has a Ben Wade like this.

Just finished some 2/2020 Mac Baren Rustica Flake in an MM Rob Roy Legend cob. 1.5 years jarred has previewed for me it's aging potential to smooth the edges in the tins sleeping in the cellar.

Think I will get a shower and find something for dinner.... I think Herbert ( Goldbrick ) has a Ben Wade like this. I do have one that might have jumped from the same bench...funny you should bring that up today, as I started my day with a 50th birthday Nording from my wife; here's why it's funny... Seventeen years ago, shortly before my 50th B-day, I won the B.W. Reflection on Ebay; a few days later wifey gifted me a real nice Nording , but the dern thing ,lovely as it was, had a stem made of that insta-green ,high sulfur material you see on so many older Nordings. I called Dave wolf{ back then he was still active at Walkers Briarworks} and after a few calls and e-mails, he agreed to use the bronze stem from the Reflection to make me a stem for the Nording. He next made me a black acrylic stem for the Reflection...Dave worked some real magic; both pipes came out great, and the coloring and lines of the Ben Wade stem looked like they were born for the Nording...even Dave ,who was skeptical at first, agreed that my choice was a good idea. In all fairness, the Reflection is a better puffer, but both are well loved, and hold a place of honor in my collection.

September 20th. A fall chill came this morning making every bowl run cooler and more flavorful. C&D Exclusive in the old vauen classic volcano. nice mix of orientals and burly.. some nice flavor with the thick burley punch towards the bottom of a bowl. Next is engine #99 from C&D. the latakia really tames the burley in this blend.. having it in the pete newgrange spigot. later I may try a bowl from my last tin of Orcilla mixture in the vauen Enzian. I really enjoy the delicate flavors and hope the Enzian works some magic. I also just made an order for some red carpet and byzantine 8oz cans with the rest of the cobblestone chess series (except the queen blend) The rook promises a wonderful Virginia experience. I am quite impressed with the brand and find high quality tobacco in both tins I had tried. Hope everyone is well and enjoying a favorite pipe today!

September 20th.. I forgot to add I ordered a 500 gram factory bag of lancers slices for aging. My current 3.5oz of well rested lancers just is not enough! Having many a bowl of lancers over time I am mystyfied at the amazing change it goes through after repacking in a storage tin. I might pull out a bowl for the Enzian once the restock arrives.. Figure about 8-10 months should put it near my current batch in flavor performance.. funny part is I always considered lancers a bit rough in the bowl but I was loading it fresh. Now I discovered a secret about it I am excited to lay in a good amount to convert. anyhoo
