My Den Mother just died this morning. She was 96. I've known her for 62 years. She picked me up from elementary school when my father died. She was my best friends mom. Our Den was a band of brothers that have stayed friends all this time. I spent more time at her house than I did at home. She could sew dresses or re-ulpholster a car or sofa. I remember her making a convertible top. I remember her scrubbing Ford 352 heads in her kitchen sink. She was everyone's second mom. I thought I was ready. I wasn't. Agnes Chadick. 💔

It is hard to loose one of life's special people. From what you wrote I was getting the idea she was one of them. Special people are very few anymore. Hope to give you a smile today I actually have a set of 352/390 1961/1962 PI heads in the garage. Police Interceptor and A 390 sitting in my ol 1970 f100. I always like older people and have lost most of them over the years. I wish you many happy memories and thoughts today as you think about this very special person.

Sorry to hear about that, Ron.
My den mother made such a great impression on me that I became a den leader after serving as a tiger cub coach. A great experience on both sides…
Agnes was obviously a phenomenal person, and left a great legacy.

And you can look at the "other" way— How lucky you were to have known her, and that she cared about you.

I am sorry for you loss, Ron. She was an important figure in your early life. It is always hard to lose these folks. Not just my early life. We had Christmas at her house every year until a couple of years ago. Still had my friends birthday at her house.

I could feel your love for her in the lines of you post; I'm so sorry for your loss, but so very glad for the memories you have. Friendships like that are few , and people like that aren't being made anymore. Hold her firmly in you heart, Ron, it's all we can do.

My condolences sir. David, IMHO this might be a nice time to share the story of your avatar. I believe it's been a few years since you last shared?

You were lucky to have someone like that in your life. I've never been that lucky...not even with parents...tough to grow up in a family with no love ever shown. Makes a person have a void in their heart that is never filled.

Damn. It’s those prized friends, often publicly incognito relationships that mean so much. Never replaced. So sorry for the huge loss.
