After a life time of watching TV and old movies on TV, I just cannot sit through it anymore. No patience. Too bad as there are a number of great shows out there including "Shetland".

Started "Blacklist" the other day... this is the first TV show I've been able to get in to in a long time. It's awesome ... not every single episode but overall. Reddington reminds me of my dad. Lol I stopped it after a couple of series. I think we'd caught up but never ventured back when new series were added. I do think James Spader is excellent in it.

Some of the seasons do lose traction but that's common in all longer running shows, it seems. This last year's was an excellent wrap-up to many questions though.

You may have seen Spader in The Pratice or Boston Leagle, he played a lawyer in both.

We have been watching Wheel of Time on Netflix. Very well done. I just wish they had released them all at once so that we could binge them.

Started re-watching "Foyle's War". Years back I got as far as the fourth season and now there are like ten or twelve??? Ought to be an interesting journey. I certainly enjoyed the characters.

I always liked that one, too. I'm trying to remember the actress's name who plays his driver. Her first name is very unusual. Something like "Honeysuckle" or "Hibiscus" or something.

We've almost finished Lost. We're on the last season now, but my wife is currently lost. It's getting a little to sci-fi for her, but she's invested so she wants to see what happens.

Interesting ending to "Lost". Presently enjoying the 4th season of Yellowstone with Kevin Costner and an all star cast...outstanding sort of western.

Do to the influence of this forum, we started Blacklist yesterday. The wife is totally hooked. My sister got me hooked on this show years ago. It is the only TV series I watch. But it is confusing. People are generally not who you think they are, or who they say they are. I suggest you set up a white board next to the TV and start a flow chart early so you can keep up with who's who.

I've been watching the 80's Jeremy Brett Sherlock series for the first time, and am really enjoying it. Just finished the first season of Cowboy Bebop, and it was fun. I enjoyed the anime series years ago.

I've been watching the 80's Jeremy Brett Sherlock series for the first time, and am really enjoying it. Just finished the first season of Cowboy Bebop, and it was fun. I enjoyed the anime series years ago. That is the definitive "Sherlock Holmes" (in my humble opinion). It is faithful to the originals. The characters of Holmes and Watson are spot on. And the attention to detail is fantastic. I especially despise the Basil Rathbone offerings where Watson is depicted as a bumbling, comic character. He is, in the original novels and short stories, an able and reliable companion. Enjoy....

I’m still working my way thru CHICAGO PD. On the whole I find it intelligently done. There are some ‘hard to take’ aspects but they are pretty easily overlooked.

The interesting thing is, Jeremy Brett, who played Sherlock Holmes in that series, was the only actor who played Sherlock that did not smoke a pipe off set. He was a cigarette smoker, smoking 60 cigarettes a day while filming the series. Sadly, he died even while there were plans to finish filming all the remaining Sherlock stories by Doyle with Brett as Sherlock.

But without that there’s no series, so I have to suspend disbelief.

I'm seeing a lot of holes in the plot, but at this point I don't have a choice. I remember finding it amusing when the IT guy was to go investigating something, he often came back with only 2 or 3 options, and 1 of them just happened to be a perfect match....it was too straightforward for me. It went something like... 'We ran the analysis on the paint and there were 3 shops that sold that kind of paint. A traffic camera picked up xxx outside this paint shop on the day in question...'

I'll bet you that the FBI supports the show. They need something to make them look competent these days.

My wife has a relative who used be the commander of the Michigan State Police crime lab in metro Detroit. His wife used to turn on CSI or the like just to watch him twitch over impossible forensic equipment and tests.

On Acorn TV, they show Foyle's War as having 9 seasons. The first 6 cover the WWII years and 7+ is post-war/early Cold War. My wife and I really enjoyed the 6 wartime seasons which were police crime solving oriented. The post-war seasons lost our interest as the show turns into a spy/political intrigue show. Foyle's driver was played by Honeysuckle Weeks. She is the older sister of actress Perdita Weeks who played Higgins in the modern Magnum PI reboot.

I didn't even know there was a Magnum PI reboot.
Yes, the spy agency stuff. I remember that now. Don't think I saw many of them, but I saw some.

The Magnum reboot came out about four years ago on CBS. We watched two seasons and then dropped it off our watchlist. It’s made by the guy who made Fast n Furious and it shows.

My wife does the same in medical dramas...especially when people are in a coma and aren't intubated.
