The family of the caretaker at Princeton had the job of cleaning out the homes that Princeton provides for the faculty.

You're right of course. Einstein was a person who worried about things like cleaning pipes. To him they were just tools for consuming tobacco. Buy that menorah pipe stand is really cool.

They all look like pipes that go unsold on eBay and Etsy.

Appalling. I was "in charge" of Faulkner's house for several months after his death. He had better taste in pipes and maintained them better as well.

You really can be annoying, you know. But I kinda enjoy it. I'm sure I'm the only one that thinks that way, though.

What I'm saying is that Einstein had a lot more on his mind than any novelist, not a particular slight against Faulkner. I find his writing interesting, but not necessarily brilliant. "Faulkner's contemporary critical reception was mixed, with The New York Times noting that many critics regarded his work as "raw slabs of pseudorealism that had relatively little merit as serious writing" So some people like his books more than others. Lee Child is an idiot if you've ever read any Jack Reacher novels, but he has at least 26 number one best sellers.

Einstein had literally everything on his mind, and was the first person to see the whole thing at once.

I agree about his net worth, but not about the quality of his writing. He knows nothing about the firearms he writes about, extremely unrealistic situations and bad character development. He wrote a book with a friend about riding horses across the southwest US and he whined about everything like a New Yorker on a cruise.

While what you say is true...his books still hold an interest...at least for me..perhaps I am a dullard that is amused at writings like his. Still, I have all his books and sometimes reread them just for entertainment.

Faulkner was an artist. All artists are "weird" in one way or another. He was also steeped in Mi'sippi which can be the very essence of weird— sometimes on steroids.
