I enjoy Baklava. Now that I have an ecommerce source and can get it delivered as needed, I am doomed. So, my question is Baklava a pastry or a confection? The ingredients are filo dough, ground nuts and honey. What does that make?  I want to know before they pull the dough over my eyes. |

All I know is that I have an Egyptian neighbor that is a linguist that just came home from the sandbox. Her son says that she cannot cook toast without ruin, but she makes Baklava that is heavenly, and gives us more than we can consume.

I call it a "fat pill" like a Danish or Doughnut and it's not taxed here a in Wisconsin as a takeout so it's a pastry.  in Restaurants it's taxed as a desert I think.

I can't help with the taxonomy, but I used to help make it when I was a kid. It's really easy, if time-consuming. Nom nom nom. My guess is pastry. And now I want some.
